Billy Porter is a name synonymous with high fashion, bravura vocals, and a fierce attitude. Whether on a red carpet or appearing on television ("Pose"), movies ("Cinderella," "80 for Brady"), or theater ("Kinky Boots"), the Emmy-Tony-Grammy winner cuts a unique and quite fabulous profile. And, for the first time, he's bringing his style to a city near you. Backed by a full band and a video installation, the "Black Mona Lisa Tour" will see Porter tell his life story through song — intermingling tracks from his Broadway performances and the "Pose" soundtrack, as well as his own solo pop career. The 25-date tour kicks off on April 29th in Seattle at the Paramount Theatre, before Porter then makes stops in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Chicago, as well as his hometown of Pittsburgh. It'll conclude on June 3rd at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. EDGE spoke to Porter about his first pop music tour, his trend-setting style, and what his past has taught him. Str8UpGayPorn is reporting that gay adult film star Kyle Ross has died following a tragic car accident last weekend. He was 29. The news was confirmed Tuesday night by gay adult studio Helix Studios, where Kyle Ross launched and maintained his career since 2011. The company tweeted: "We are heartbroken to confirm that Aaron Cumbey aka @KyleRossXXX has passed away as the result of a solo car accident this past weekend, no foul play is suspected. His family is devastated and asks for privacy during this time. We love you Kyle RIP" After a string of award wins, over 100 scenes, and even a biographical novel (called "Twink") written about him, Ross retired from performing in 2020, and just last month, he announced that he'd retired from his corporate position at Helix. "Ross had been traveling through Florida last week and posted several video tweets showing an argument he had at an American Airlines terminal after a gate agent refused to allow him on board his flight for reasons that were unclear," Str8UpGayPorn reports. Ross appeared distraught in more videos that he posted on Sunday morning, in which he shared that he'd slept in his rental car while awaiting another flight. Str8Up updated their site having learned that the crash was in fact in Florida. Making this all the more heartbreaking, Ross's dog, Hank, also died in the crash, which I'm told was "very bad." The modeling industry isn't one that just sells clothes, it's also in the business of finding the world's sexiest people. That may seem a bit glaring since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but, unfortunately, there is still a bias when it comes to advertising sex, especially if what someone is selling belongs to a legendary fashion house. The European modeling agency named Kult has been around since 2001, and they scour the planet for potential models who radiate sexuality. They keep their catalog full of men and women who range in shades, shapes, sizes, and sexual identities. We explored their roster of male (and non-binary) models and found some we think might invigorate your Instagram. If you can't afford the clothes, at least you can look at their gorgeous bodies for free. Tap link in bio for more on @EDGEmedianetwork ????
Russell Tovey is one of the hardest-working out actors in Hollywood right now. His resume speaks for itself, playing characters in a wide variety of mediums and genres. Still, you're more likely to be familiar with Tovey's work if you're a fan of horror and supernatural television. His breakout role on the BBC comedy-drama series "Being Human" led to other ventures into scary stuff such as "American Horror Story: NYC." Tovey often keeps his roles focused on the queer experience if he can, having played gay roles in the HBO dramedy "Looking" and on the Russell T. Davies's dystopian miniseries "Years and Years." Tovey has been out for many years now, detailing his struggles with sexuality in his teen years, his parents' reaction to his coming out, and his relationship with gender expression. Tovey is a very open person on social media, sharing many of the fun trips he takes along with lazier days at home. We'll document 12 of our favorite Instagram posts from Tovey so you can get more acquainted with this venerable actor! Tap link in bio for more on @EDGEmedianetwork ???? ?: @russelltovey
Did a British DJ's mom will him to be bisexual? The Daily Mail reported that Woody Cook "joked that his mother Zoe Ball may have 'manifested' his bisexuality, because she 'always wanted a gay son.'" "The DJ, 21, publicly shared his sexuality in 2018 after being encouraged to do so by a modelling agent, who said he would 'inspire' others to 'feel better about themselves'. Now, Woody shared the amusing anecdote that his mum Zoe may have been the mental cause of his bisexuality." On the Homo Sapiens podcast, he said: "My mum always said she wanted me to be gay... so maybe she manifested it — halfway at least." He added: "She's just like, ''What is it, Woody?'" "So I told her and she was like, 'It's great', but she was also confused, and said, 'Isn't that just the step before being gay or something?'" Cook came out four years ago prior to appearing on the Channel 4 reality series, "The Circle." "Woody previously told MailOnline that he had doubts about coming out because he feared he'd been seen as 'attention-seeking,'" the Mail said. He explained: "Originally, when I first came out before the show, I'd been doing this modelling thing. I'd been working with an agent who said, 'You should come out.'" "But I was like, 'Why? Anyone who knows me knows. I just feel like that's attention seeking.'" His modeling agent advised him of the benefit of coming out. "'No, if you can come out and it can inspire one person to feel better about yourself, you've already won.' And I went, 'You're so right.'" He calls himself Fossil Daddy, though prefers to keep his real identity under wraps. He is, according to his Instagram, a scientist, and describes himself as a LGBTQA+ Fossil Hunter & Fossil Pokémon Champion, Paleontological Father Figure, Twitch Affiliate/New YouTuber, and Educational thirst traps. "The queer content creator has nearly 130,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok thanks to his cheeky photos and videos that show him hunting for ancient fossils and clapping back at online trolls in his thick Boston accent," reports the Daily Mail. In an interview with the HuffPost, the hunky paleontologist posts his educational social media posts with a difference: "They're usually accompanied by his sculpted arms and hairy, tattooed chest." But, as he explains, "I get this comment pretty frequently, not verbatim," Daddy says. "'The thirst traps brought me in, but the education kept me here.'" Fossil Daddy spends days at a time uncovering ancient fossils that tell the story of how non-human life evolved on Earth. After the trips, and sometimes during, he posts about his findings, the HuffPost writes. "When you split a rock down the middle and you find a fossil, you are the first pair of eyes to ever see this animal — or plant, or whatever it may be — in hundreds of millions of years," Daddy says. "And that never ceases to blow my mind." But he admits to getting pushback from creationists, which he handles in a frank manner. "They're definitely very threatened by my presence, so maybe I should turn up the TikToks a little bit more," he tells the HuffPost. But it took him time to reach that level of confidence. Once he did, he trolled back, debunking them point-by-point. "If you really, truly believe this, then you're not that bright," Daddy says in one video reply to a creationist. MAGA activist Kid Rock let it be known he was not pleased with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney being a brand representative for Bud Light, and he expressed it in a dramatic fashion. "Kid Rock has been left so furious with Bud Light's new choice of influencer that he took out several cases with an automatic gun," writes the Daily Mail. "The pro-Trump singer, wearing a MAGA hat, said he wanted to send a 'clear and concise' message after discovering trans content creator Dylan Mulvaney was working with the beer company." He tweeted a video of him shooting cases of the brand beer. "Grandpa's feeling a little frisky today," he explained. "Let me say something to all you and be as clear and concise as possible," he said prior to loading a semi-automatic rifle and firing. After doing so, he mustered all his macho bluster, raised his middle-finger to the camera, and said: "Fuck Bud Light. And fuck Anheuser-Busch. Have a terrific day." "Mulvaney, 26, announced the partnership in a series of videos posted to social media at the weekend to coincide with the NCAA March Madness tournament," adds the Daily Mail. "She was even given a beer can with her face printed on it to celebrate her 365 days of being a woman — something which angered the singer." The New York Post adds that although Rock did not mention Mulvaney, "viewers acknowledged it was a clear shot at the beer giant's decision to enlist the divisive trans activist and TikToker in a campaign celebrating Mulvaney's self-styled '365 days of womanhood.'" Rock's tweet quickly went viral, getting more than 8 million views on Twitter — even though he has fewer than 1 million followers. In a moving demonstration of genuine family values, John Osborne opened up in a podcast appearance about his protective feelings toward his younger brother when T.J. came out — and John expected homophobic attacks to follow. People magazine reports that the elder half of the musical duo was ready to wade into any social media fracas that might have erupted after T.J. publicly came out. "My role was just to be his brother, you know?" John Osborne told Sid Evans, the host of the Biscuits and Jam podcast. "I wanted to be the support that he needed when he needed it." The 40-year-old big brother explained that "At the end of the day, there was a bit of fear or concern or anxiety surrounding it because you don't know. You can't really predict how anyone's going to react." T.J. Osborne, 37, chimed in as well, telling Evans that during his time int he closet he felt he didn't have authenticity "with my public life and my relationship with my fans, and I did feel like that was ultimately affecting my mental health and my relationship with myself and my ability to truly be who I am, and authentic. "I just was at a point where, you know, the ends didn't justify the means, I guess," T.J. added. " I think getting to a place to where, 'OK, I need to be happy.' " T.J. Osborne came out two years ago, telling Time Magazine in an interview, "I'm very comfortable being gay." While some trolls did give vent to their anti-LGBTQ+ animus at the news, the fan response was overwhelmingly supportive, the article recalled. Saying that the outcome was "overall so beautifully positive," John told Evans, "I was ready to verbally fight people on Twitter if I had to, and fortunately that never had to happen. With his sleek cheekbones, dimples, and All American looks, actor David Corenswet looks camera-ready to play Superman. For now you can catch the lanky (6'4"), 29-year old in last year's hugely underrated horror film, "Pearl," Ti West's Technicolored study of a young woman (an Oscar-worthy Mia Goth) descent into madness in rural Texas in 1918. In the film, the title character dreams of Hollywood stardom, fueled by her visits to a local movie theater where she is befriended by its projectionist (Corenswet). He seduces Pearl one night by showing her WWI-era stag films, which shades his character as a bad boy; but he proves no match for the truly mad Pearl. Talking to Yahoo! News about his role, called the Projectionist in the film's credits, the Juilliard graduate says: "When Ti pitched to me what he envisioned for the film, it was all about visual aesthetic and cinematic references, and this core idea of... doing a horror film, telling a tragedy in the shell of a movie musical... and I love that idea." Added Corenswet: "It immediately resonated with me and struck me as a great film that I would want to see." The musical movie reference may seem strange for a slasher film, but in the film's vibrant cinematography and Panavision look, it could easily be mistaken for a Vincente Minnelli film. When, for instance, Pearl auditions for a church holiday show as a dancer, it becomes a full-scaled musical number right out of the 1950s. It is moments like this, Corenswet feels, that allowed West to go to "extremes" he wanted to. "I think it's giving Ti permission to use the extremes when it comes to images and sounds, and music, the elements that make up the film that evoke the emotions from the audience," he said. "In a genre like horror there's permission granted to use the most grotesque and vulgar images, and sounds and situations, and there's also the opportunity to have ridiculously silly moments." Mother has spoken! RuPaul took to Instagram to call out Republicans for anti-drag laws that the "Drag Race" icon says are "distractions" from real problems... and to hail drag queens as the "marines" of the LGBTQ+ community. Dismissing the theatrical nature of the anti-drag bills and the inflammatory rhetoric around them, RuPaul called on his audience to "get the stunt queens out of office," Variety reported. "Hey, look over there!" RuPaul, 62, said in a video posted to the social media platform on March 8. "A classic distraction technique, distracting us away from the real issues that they were voted into office to focus on: jobs, healthcare, keeping our children safe from harm at their own school." Backed by an American flag, RuPaul went on to add, "Drag queens are the Marines of the queer movement. Don't get it twisted and don't be distracted. Register to vote so we can get these stunt queens out of office and put some smart people with real solutions into government." "And by the way, a social media post has never been as powerful as a registered vote." Tap link in bio for more on @EDGEmedianetwork ?️?????? ?: @rupaulofficial
