Pro soccer players like Australia's Josh Cavallo and Britain's Jake Daniels may have come out of the closet to the support of their colleagues, but things seem to be different in the semi-pro world. At least, that was the case with onetime semi-pro British soccer player Jake Williamson, whose own teammates shunned him after he came out in an interview, Australian newspaper the Star Observer reported. Williamson came out in 2021 after meeting his partner, Paul, during the COVID pandemic, the Star Observer relayed. "I remember vividly, we used to take my dog for a walk," Williamson told the BBC's LGBT Sport Podcast. "And I just remember, for the first time ever, we just held hands, and at that point, it was the most powerful experience still today that I've ever had in my life." The athlete went on to add: "You would think that's so strange, but literally, I held his hand and I just internally I just thought, 'yeah, this is it. I need to just sort of bite the bullet,' and I was ready." Williamson was playing for a Sunday football league in Birmingham at the time, the newspaper detailed. But as soon as Williamson embraced authenticity, the other players on his team showed what they were made of in turn. Williamson described the experience to Pink News, saying that after the BBC interview he "experienced homophobia for the first time" when he was "completely shut out of the team." Added the athlete: "It's bad enough that, in the society we live in, we get made to feel like we're the worst thing on earth sometimes - so it's not nice when your own football team just cuts you off." In the first few frames of Craig Boreham's gay-themed film "Lonesome," the viewer spots a cowboy hat in the sunset distance of the Australian landscape moving closer to the camera, along with the unmistakable walk of a weary and damaged young man escaping a repressed and hateful milieu. As we follow our protagonist, Casey, he pauses to look lustily at a half-naked hottie pumping gas, wondering, for a split second, if he might be up for some fun, only to quickly decide it's likely not a good idea. He then walks over to an older, scruffy, ginger dude. Boreham then cuts to Casey intensely fucking ginger man in the gas station rest room. This is definitely not your ordinary cowboy movie. It isn't even "Brokeback Mountain," a brilliant film that still played it safe when it came to nudity and sexual situations. A festival favorite last year (playing at over 50), "Lonesome" delivers an honest portrait of queer sex and gay sexual encounters. The sex in the film can also be cathartic, something we rarely see. And the desire is presented without guilt or shame or apology. Mostly. The key to the success of this impressive and disquieting film is the central performance by out newcomer Josh Lavery. who etches a beguiling, heart-wrenchingly authentic portrait of a lost boy searching for redemption... or just somewhere to sleep. In the film, Casey is escaping from a small-town tragedy that has cut him to his core. He arrives in Sydney and meets Tib (Daniel Gabriel), a guy struggling with his own personal demons. Together (and separately) they navigate the world of sexual intoxication, as well as the debilitating loneliness one can feel in a big city. The dialogue is sparse, but Lavery says all he needs to with his expression-filled face. Incredibly, Lavery has only three short film credits to his name besides "Lonesome," but one gets the feeling that is all about to change. EDGE had the pleasure of speaking with Lavery. #EDGERewind :: About midway through "Bros," Aaron (Luke Macfarlane) runs into his old high school buddy Josh (Ryan Faucett) in a movie lobby. Aaron and Bobby (Billy Eichner) have been to see a new gay movie, which leads Josh's fiancée to say that gays are her bag. Apparently they are because, not long after,: Josh comes out in a social media post that gives him national attention. The plot meme satirizes the ways in which individuals use the coming out process to enhance their brand. But it also brings Josh into the gay fold (and into bed with Aaron, Bobby and a fourth man who doesn't quite fit in the sexual dynamic). To find out whether or not Josh turns out to be an issue in the Aaron-Bobby relationship, you will need to see the film. Faucett certainly lights up the screen when he appears in the film (and makes you want to see more of him). But who is Ryan Faucett? Little can be gleaned from his IMDb page save for his numerous television credits. He was seen in the ongoing role of Trevor Vaughn on NBC's "New Amsterdam" and the queer character Bernardo Brigsby (in The CW's "Katy Keene" and "Riverdale." He also appeared in the Australian series "Neighbours" and "Twentysomething." Tap link in bio for more on @EDGEmedianetwork ???? ?: @tryanfaucett
#EDGERewind :: Former gay adult star Woody Fox, who hails from Australia, joined his industry colleagues on an edition of the Australian Broadcast Company's "You Can't Ask That" to talk about the ins-and-outs of the industry. The lean, bearded 33-year-old performer, who retired from the industry in 2019, offered insights and advice from his years working in porn. He joined a number of his colleagues, both male and female, in the segment. Over his career, Fox worked for such companies as Falcon, Hard British Lads, Hot House, Lucas Entertainment, Men.com, Raging Stallion, Naked Sword, and more. He has an OnlyFans account, where he describes himself as "masc, Aussie, acrobat with a cheeky past." Fox discussed his first porn shoot, which was reported by the Star Observer. "I didn't know if I was going to get hard," he joked. "I didn't know if I was going to poop myself." My first shoot was terrifying." Fortunately, he continued. "The first one didn't have a script. Here's some mats, here's some positions." "We had about 10, 20 minutes to get to know each other. As in like 'Hi, how are you? Where are you from? If I bite your ear is that going to be a turn-off?' Just really, really quick. It was more about making sure he was comfortable, sliding in." He also said that despite the content, the main thing about working on a porn set "is that it's not sexual." "There'll be moments where you're starting to connect with a scene partner," he said. "And then there'll be a voice saying, 'Just turn out,' or, 'Hey, we need make-up on the hole.'" Fox discussed an embarrassing moment while filming a rimming scene. "I've pulled these cheeks open and I've been sprayed with douche water," he said. And he admitted that there are definitely size requirements in the industry. "So you'll never really see someone below eight inches in porn," he said. It's no secret that men's professional sports are lacking when it comes to out and proud queer athletes. There are a small selection of icons who have embraced their truest selves and let the world know about it, but the world of men's sports is still one that is predominately straight and not many sports are fueled by machismo more than professional wrestling. This makes professional All Elite Wrestling star Anthony Bowens a true trend setter in his sport. Bowens has been out and dating YouTuber Michael Pavano for several years now. Their public relationship on social media has allowed LGBTQ+ fans around the world to be inspired by their bravery, not to mention thirst over Bowens in his wrestling tights. We've decided to compile the steamiest IG posts on Bowens account for your viewing pleasure. Tap link in bio for more on @EDGEmedianetwork ???? ?: @bowens_official
Non-binary actor Bella Ramsey pushed back on homophobic trolls who bombarded the epic third episode of "The Last of Us" with hate: "they're gonna have to get used to it." Ramsey also expressed hope that the show will allow her character a lesbian storyline, according to Variety. Ramsey, who embraces a range of pronouns that includes "she/her" and "they," aired her sentiments in an interview with British GQ, following the airing of the show's fourth episode. But the instant-classic Episode 3 remained part of the conversation, having spent most of its extra-long run time focused not on Ramsey's character Ellie or the other lead Joel (Pedro Pascal), but rather on the decades-long same-sex romance of a pair of guest characters played by Nick Offerman and openly gay Australian actor Murray Bartlett. "Toxic fans review bombed the episode on websites such as IMDb, but Bill and Frank's romance is just the beginning of gay representation on 'The Last of Us,'" Variety reported. The show is, after all, adapted from its hit video game source material in which Ellie has a romance with another woman. Comments from Ramsey indicated she would be up for a same-sex romance during Season 2. "The sequel also introduces a transgender teenager named Lev," the entertainment news outlet noted. Ramsey didn't let the homophobic noise rattle her. "I know people will think what they want to think," she told GQ. "But they're gonna have to get used to it. If you don't want to watch the show because it has gay storylines, because it has a trans character, that's on you, and you're missing out. It isn't gonna make me afraid. I think that comes from a place of defiance." Tap link in bio for more on @EDGEmedianetwork ?️??️?️? ?: @bellaramsey
#EDGERewind :: Harry Styles opened up a bit about his sexuality (and the world's fascination with it), as well as the conversations he's had to have in his dating life as a superstar, his post-concert shower ritual, and more, in a new interview with Rolling Stone. Noting that Styles has been romantically linked with Olivia Wilde, who directed Styles in her upcoming sophomore feature, "Don't Worry, Darling," and that Styles has tried to cling to at least a modicum of privacy when it comes to his personal life, the article recounted that "rumors have filled the space" where the couple have chosen to be reserved. Styles spoke to the tendency for this to happen. While he might work to keep his public and personal lives contained and separate, "other people blur the lines for you," he said. While Styles is already getting awards buzz for "Don't Worry, Darling," even though it's still a month away from release, it's the film he shot directly afterward that has kept people talking about his sexuality, and whether he might fall on the LGBTQ+ spectrum. As for his own sexuality, "I think everyone, including myself, has your own journey with figuring out sexuality and getting more comfortable with it," Styles said. That won't satisfy fans who wonder at his tendency toward androgynous fashion choices. Rolling Stone noted that Styles "has embraced gender fluidity in his fashion, like Mick Jagger and David Bowie before him, and has repeatedly pointed out how backward it feels to require labels and boxes for everyone's identity. "Critics of his approach have accused him of 'queerbaiting,' or profiting off queer aesthetics without explicitly claiming the community," the article added. Styles touched on this, saying that, "Sometimes people say, 'You've only publicly been with women,' and I don't think I've publicly been with anyone." #EDGERewind :: Could we soon see a "Riverdale" and "Euphoria" crossover episode? Not likely. But that hasn't stopped fans from speculating about what KJ Apa and Eric Dane are doing together. Apa posted a photo on Instagram of himself lying on a couch with Eric Dane leaning over him. He captioned the photo "New couple alert!" and sent fans in a frenzy. Can you imagine Archie in the "Euphoria" universe? But the photo did not confirm any real life details besides the two actors knowing each other and feeling cozy doing whatever they were doing together. In reality, Dane and Apa are both co-starring in the upcoming film "One Fast Move, which probably explains why they are together and Apa's new daddy-esque buzzcut. In the film, Apa plays a discharged soldier with dreams of becoming a motorcycle racer. Dane plays his absent father. With "Riverdale" coming to an end, Apa certainly has time to join "Euphoria" Season 3, at least for a delicious cameo. The CW show's final season is set for spring 2023, and Season 3 of Euphoria is planned for sometime in 2024. Tap link in bio for more on @EDGEmedianetwork ???? ?: Eric Dane & KJ Apa

#EDGERewind :: Zac Efron is addressing questions about his changing appearance over the years in a new wide-ranging interview with Men's Health. According to him, even his own mother questioned how much his appearance has changed at one point after he appeared in a clip with Bill Nye in promotion for Earth Day last year. His jaw looked noticeably swollen, leading many to assume he had work done. But according to Efron, the swollen face was the result of shattering his jaw while waltzing around his mansion and falling. He reportedly lost consciousness and when he came to "his chin bone was hanging off his face." After undergoing physical therapy, his jaw began to overcompensate and "the masseters just grew," Efron said. "They just got really, really big." That's not the only time Efron began to noticeably grow. He also opened up about the unhealthy effect his bulky "Baywatch" body had on his mental health. "That Baywatch look, I don't know if that's really attainable," he said. The look "required Lasix" and "powerful diuretics" to achieve, on top of grueling training. "I started to develop insomnia and I fell into a pretty bad depression, for a long time," Efron shared. "Something about that experience burned me out. I had a really hard time re-centering. Ultimately they chalked it up to taking way too many diuretics for way too long, and it messed something up." After filming the movie, he took six months to recenter himself and rethink his health priorities about what it means to be fit. Tap link in bio for more on @EDGEmedianetwork ???? ?: Zac Efron
