Much like "American Horror Story: New York City," in which he stars, Matthew William Bishop appears dark and intimidating. The actor has a dramatic presence. He stands at 6'1" and weighs 240 pounds. His arms are the size of thick beef flanks, and his chest is as wide as the grill of a semi-truck. Everything about him spells primal cut, but when he smiles all that menacing character melts away allowing the gentleness of his spirit to shine through. Before he was discovered by producer Ryan Murphy, Bishop was a corporate bee, working as vice president at Edelman, a public relations firm in New York City, according to his website's biography. He didn't just pump up for Hollywood, the massive star was also a competitive body builder. He was cast in the role of Big Daddy in "AHS" after someone passed on his information to Murphy himself. Bishop's biggest muscle might be his heart. As a philanthropist, he gives back to the community by giving to various LGBTQ causes. One of those is Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. NSYNC may have been famous, but they weren't wealthy, says band member Lance Bass, according to a report in People Magazine. "During an appearance on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show, Bass revealed that he made "way more" money after the group disbanded. "The worst thing was people thinking we were rich because we were not," Bass, 43, said. "We were famous but we were not rich. I made way more money after NSYNC than I did during NSYNC." He added of the band's former manager, "Lou [Pearlman] really took the majority of all of our stuff. And the record label too. Horrible deals." People writes that "Pearlman — who died in prison in 2016 at age 62 — created the band and was notorious for a $300 million Ponzi scheme when he mishandled the group's finances and was later sued by several members of different boy bands, including the Backstreet Boys. He was convicted of fraud in 2008." On a 2021 appearance on People's Every Day podcast, Bass opened up about how his personal experience with finances in the boy band influenced his business practices. "Let me just start by saying nobody was more surprised than me that people wanted to see me naked at 50 years old," adult content creator Lance Charger says. "So it definitely caught me by surprise." Queer singer Mathew V. looks to carve himself some space in world of jazz. It is something of a brave move – jazz is a music genre not known for queer representation. And he is doing so by going back to the Great American Songbook– the term given the songs written during the 20th century that defined pop music for decades. Don't expect any gender-reversals in the lyrics. Take "The Man I Love," the classic George and Ira Gershwin song which Mathew V. covers on hiw new release "Anything Goes." With him singing the lyric as written nearly a century ago, he gives it an appropriate 21st century gloss. The Canadian-born singer emigrated from Vancouver to London when he was 17. Upon his return to Canada, he signed with 604 Records in 2017. That year he released the single "Tell Me Smooth," a preview of his 2018 full-length album "The Fifth." The song spent 14 weeks on the Canadian hot adult contemporary radio charts in Billboard. Since then, Mathew V. has become a sought-after topliner in the dance world, and now debuts in the vocal jazz world with his tasteful representation of the Great American Songbook. Billy Porter is a name synonymous with high fashion, bravura vocals, and a fierce attitude. Whether on a red carpet or appearing on television ("Pose"), movies ("Cinderella," "80 for Brady"), or theater ("Kinky Boots"), the Emmy-Tony-Grammy winner cuts a unique and quite fabulous profile. Chicago has long been a carnivorous restaurant city, from our historic hot dog stands to barbecue rib tip joints to steakhouses old and new.⁠ ⁠ But Bloom Plant Based Kitchen (@bloompbk) in Wicker Park has firmly taken root despite that, fighting for our future by showing us how we won’t miss the meat when the food proves stunning.⁠ ⁠ Chef and owner Rodolfo Cuadros opened the restaurant in 2021. Michelin has since awarded Bloom a Bib Gourmand, while the James Beard Foundation named Cuadros a best chef semifinalist in the Great Lakes region in 2022. The accolades are well-deserved for dishes so striking that on one recent night, someone shouted, “Look at this — it’s art!”⁠ ⁠ I don’t know what our excitable fellow diner had, but he was undoubtedly right. Each dish is a marvel and far from simple. Yucca gnocchi hints at the restaurant’s origin story. Plump dumplings are toasted crisp on the outside, served on a silky bed of celery root purée, laced with aromatic mushroom sofrito and garnished with shaved cashew pecorino.⁠ ⁠ “It’s actually based off of the first dish I ever made for my wife’s vegan family,” Cuadros said. "The queer content creator has nearly 130,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok thanks to his cheeky photos and videos that show him hunting for ancient fossils and clapping back at online trolls in his thick Boston accent," reports the Daily Mail. In an interview with the HuffPost, the hunky paleontologist posts his educational social media posts with a difference: "They're usually accompanied by his sculpted arms and hairy, tattooed chest."
