"On Wednesday's episode of the Facebook Watch show 'Red Table Talk,' the mother-daughter duo discussed being attracted to women in a discussion with actress Niecy Nash." In the mother-daughter talk, Pinkett-Smith recalled how she had told her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, that a relationship with another woman wasn't for her. "I love being amongst women, but I never could connect to women romantically. But that's not to say that it couldn't be that. You just never know." She continued: "I've had my fair share of, like, swooning and feeling like, oh my God, she's so beautiful. She's so talented, this and that," the Girls Trip actress continued. "I've swooned a lot, I will say that. I've had two times [when] I've been infatuated with a woman." She also said that she could "see [Willow] falling in love with a woman one day." Willow responded: "Yeah, I mean, I'm 20. I don't feel like I've been in love with a woman just yet. But I definitely feel like it could happen because I've had very strong feelings for women before." In June 2019, Willow revealed she loves "men and women equally" during a discussion on polyamorous romances, People wrote. Adding, "I would definitely want one man and one woman," she continued. Social media influencer and reality star Jazz Jennings shared a social media post about the "devastating" impact of banning transgender girls, like herself, from participating in sports. Jennings wrote, "when I was 8 years old, I was banned from playing girls soccer for over two years. The ban made me feel excluded, had no merit and negatively affected me and my family." She continued: "Me and my family were devastated, but after 2+ years trans inclusive policy was created. "People argue that transgender women have competitive advantages. This is not true. My personal experiences and many statistics prove this. "Today in 30+ states, including Florida, they are trying to ban transgender people in sports. These bills are discriminatory, increase exclusion, and have no merit." Jennings' post comes on the heels of South Dakota governor Kristi Noem ordering a ban on transgender girls playing on girls' sports teams. Elsewhere in the U.S., governors in Tennessee and Arkansas, as well as the House in West Virginia, have passed laws banning transgender girls from playing on girls' sports teams. Jennings' tweet also includes a clip from "I Am Jazz" in which her father, fighting back tears, reading an email he wrote to an official at the time his 8-year-old daughter was banned from playing on a travel soccer team when she was younger. Is Bucky Barnes bisexual? In a new interview with NME, "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" lead writer Malcom Spellman simply responded to the increasingly popular fan query, "I'm not diving down rabbit holes, but just keep watching." The character of Bucky Barnes — a World War II soldier presumed to have been killed but re-emerges as an assassin in the present day — is played by handsome Romanian actor Sebastian Stan, who played openly gay T.J. Hammond, son of Sigourney Weaver's Elaine Barrish, in the miniseries "Political Animals." Barnes must adjust to life in the 21st century without his best friend Steve Rogers. Stan said to MTV earlier this year, "Steve Rogers and Bucky are both orphans and kind of like brothers. They kind of grow up together and look after each other. It's a very human, relatable thing... I also wanted to look out for how their relationship changes once Steve Rogers becomes Captain America. There's always a competition and they're always one-upping each other. "RuPaul's Drag Race" found its Season 13 villain on Friday night (if only for one episode) in the person of Utica Queen, the Minnesota-based drag queen who idiosyncratic personality defied being categorized up to last week's episode. The lanky queen, whose wide smile and broad style brought to mind a hippie version of Carol Burnett, had stayed afloat in the competition thanks to his shrewd fashion sense and by simply defying being categorized. But what did him in on this week's episode was his seeming just mean in this week's challenge, a "Nice Girls Roast" that included contestants Nina West, Valentina and Heidi N Closet. By their nature roasts push the boundaries of taste, but Utica took it to a new level as she ignored the suggestions by judges Michelle Visage and Loni Love to bring down the meanness with his roast jokes. Instead Utica ratcheted them up, resulting in one of the most uncomfortable sequences on the show this season. After being sent home, she seemed oblivious to criticism, but tweeted an apology after the episode aired on Friday for her size-shaming jokes. "I want to apologize for my performance in this ep of DR. Especially to @ LoniLove, @ michellevisage, and @ NinaWest, the jokes were in bad taste and my attempt at roast humor was for the lack of better words, horrible. Lil Nas X is stepping out to collaborate with New York-based art collective MSCHF, and footwear powerhouse Nike is seeing red. The out singer and rapper is launching limited-edition satan shoes — unofficially modified Nike Air Max 97s that feature a pentagram, inverted cross and a drop of human blood. Nike released a statement to CNN, declaring, "We do not have a relationship with Lil Nas or MSCHF. Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them." Only 666 pairs of shoes were manufactured and will be sold for the biblical price of $1,018, referencing Luke 10:18, which reads, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven." Lil Nas spun the controversy into a promotional opportunity, releasing a new YouTube video to his 12.1 million subscribers titled "Lil Nas X Apologizes for Satan Shoe," only to show several seconds of the singer posing with the shoe followed by a quick cut to his latest music video, "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)." If you think Grindr is solely for "social networking" (aka hooking up), think again. The 11-year-old app is reinventing its place in the queer cultural landscape with a new series of artist collaborations available in its merch store. Debuting March 27, Grindr x Pol Anglada will feature Spanish-born, Paris-based artist Pol Anglada and include limited-edition shirts and prints. Future artist collaborations will be featured in Grindr's merch store throughout the year. Anglada focuses on "the male form, queer activism and the vulnerability of sensuality," according to Grindr's recent announcement. Past collaborations have included work with fashion brands such as JW Anderson, Phipps International and others, and also co-founded the independent zine "Free Time." The Grindr x Pol Anglada collection will feature limited-edition shirts and prints that celebrate the queer community's diversity while also calling out many of the issues and stigmas LGBTQ people face, including body shaming, HIV stigma, transphobia, racism and ableism. "An image beats a thousand words, and that's how I aim to express myself through drawing," said Pol Anglada of the collaboration. "I grew up listening to punk music, and I draw huge influence from punk's subversive messages and its power as a medium of expression. The T-shirt is a really basic way to tell the world who and what you are." "We are so excited to spotlight queer talent and connect amazing artists like Pol with our community," said Grindr's Patrick Rogers. A majority of Republicans now support same-sex marriage, The Hill reports. A new poll from Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI), released on Tuesday, shows 51 percent support for marriage equality, which is up from 47 percent in 2019. The numbers rose for those who identify as Independent, currently at 72 percent — in recent years, The Hill notes, that figure was around the mid-60s. Of course, Democratic support for marriage equality remains high, at around 75 percent. In the same survey, a majority of all three groups support nondiscrimination policies protecting the LGBTQ community — in housing, the workplace, and public accommodations — with 62 percent Republican, 85 percent Democrat, and 79 percent Independent. As The Hill notes, last month the House passed the Equality Act, "which would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in areas including education, housing, employment and more." Whether the split GOP-Democratic Senate will also vote to pass the Act is a little less certain. Those opposing pro-LGBTQ rights and protections are more likely to identify as Republican, and most with a favorable perspective of ex-President Trump. The study found that only one in four of those particular respondents held unfavorable views of Trump. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Thursday that an infrastructure plan expected soon from President Joe Biden will offer a "once in a century" opportunity to remake transportation in the United States, where cars and highways are no longer king. Speaking at the Austin, Texas-based South by Southwest conference, which is being held virtually this year, Buttigieg compared the new possibility to the creation of an interstate highway under President Dwight Eisenhower in the 1950s and a transcontinental railroad under President Abraham Lincoln a century before that. "We start with something unglamorous, which is fixing and improving what we're already got — there's been a trillion dollar backlog just in the roads and bridges we already have," he said. "But I'll add there are some things that need to be reduced ... sometimes roads need to go on a diet." He said the U.S. can no longer follow a 1950s mentality of building roads and communities based on moving as many cars as possible, but must adapt to the reality of climate change and ensure the safety of growing numbers of bicyclists and pedestrians on the streets. "The design choices we make, how fast cars move, whether there's bike lanes and sidewalks ... green space even, all of this is part of that view," Buttigieg said. "Sometimes we do need to add a road or widen one. Just as often, I think we need to subtract." Buttigieg's remarks came after a report on Wednesday forecast that global gasoline demand has peaked and is unlikely to return to pre-pandemic levels due to shifts in consumer behavior, such as increasing telework and people moving to electric vehicles. People also are shifting to other modes of transportation, such as bicycles or scooters, for shorter trips. As disparities in access to the COVID-19 vaccine continue to reverberate throughout the world, one Brooklyn pharmacist decided to take matters into his own hands. Ambar Keluskar, a pharmacist at Rossi Pharmacy in New York, noticed a decline in vaccine takers despite the location's supply. Advertising on social media didn't help either, so Keluskar took to the streets, vaccines in hand. According to The New York Times, Keluskar received a tip from an employee at State Senator Jabari Brisport's office about Stonewall House, the newly opened affordable housing complex for LGBTQ seniors. George Berry, a Stonewall resident, helped organize the effort to reach the many home bound residents who had yet to be vaccinated. According to The Times, one resident had been unsuccessfully trying to schedule an appointment for weeks until receiving an on-site vaccine. Keluskar's efforts come at a vital time as recent reports indicate alarming health disparities for LGBTQ seniors. According to the collaborative project between AARP and SAGE, 23% of LGBTQ New Yorkers of all ages point to inadequate insurance coverage as the most significant barrier to healthcare, and 21% of LGBTQ people aged 50 and up — have provided friends with care, which is three and a half times that of non-LGBTQ people. Resilience continues to prevail, though. In July 2020, San Francisco lifted restrictions that had effectively barred gay bathhouses from operating there for over three decades. For owners of public sex venues, would-be patrons, and anyone who considers that San Francisco is literally the gayest city in the country, the legislation was historic. Its timing, of course, could not have been more curious. The bygone regulations, which prohibited locked doors and unmonitored play spaces, had been in place since 1984, as HIV/AIDS decimated the queer community, paranoia was near a fever pitch, and reliable information remained scarce. As public health measures, the rules were incredibly misguided. Bathhouses, and other businesses that facilitate sexual contact, have since proven to be pivotal vectors for disseminating health information and facilitating screening and prevention measures for HIV and other STIs. That San Francisco's reversal came as another epoch-defining virus circled the globe seemed like a cosmic course correction. There was some confusion at first. A few critics were outraged at the idea that public sex might be happening in person while public school was not. The July legislation has simply allowed for new bathhouses to potentially break ground and operate in the future, however, once coronavirus conditions allow for other types of businesses to open as well. The pandemic has been disastrous for LGBTQ businesses, which are weathering dire straits like much of the economy, from bars and hotels to retail. Many nightlife venues have thrown in the towel or are relying on the life support of crowd-funding campaigns. COVID-19 has only accelerated an alarming trend; research suggests that the number of bars serving LGBTQ patrons has declined by nearly 40% since 2007, due in part to gentrification, the rise of digital means for social and sexual connection, and broader overall acceptance lessening the need for queer safe spaces, particularly in urban areas. When Steve Rogers handed Sam Wilson his Captain America shield at the end of Marvel's massive 2019 event "Avengers: Endgame," Wilson tried it on for a beat. "How does it feel?" the wrinkled Rogers asked. "Like it's someone else's," Wilson responded. That reluctance and skepticism is front-and-center as Wilson's story continues in "The Falcon and the Winter Solder," a new six-episode Disney+ series that promises an exploration of patriotism and race alongside its shootouts and soaring chase scenes. The series launches Friday. While "Endgame" appeared to promise a quick transition for Anthony Mackie's Falcon to take up the Captain America mantle, as he has in the comics, the creator of "Falcon" promises only complications. Malcolm Spellman said the series will explore "the conflict for a Black man confronting those stars and stripes." He said the Wilson/Falcon character is set to "emerge from this story as a hero of the times and a hero of the people today. And that journey of whether it's even appropriate to deal with the symbol, the Stars and Stripes, to me, felt super, super relevant and timely." So will there be a Black Captain America by the time the final credits roll in April? Mackie, steeped in Marvel's renowned secret-keeping after playing Falcon since 2014's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," will only say this: "I'm very happy with the end of 'Falcon,' and I feel like I have one of the most unique, coolest characters in all of comic book movies." Unlike the mostly insular "WandaVision," the first Marvel series launched after "Endgame," "Falcon" promises a larger scope of globe-trotting adventure with implications for multiple characters in upcoming series and films. Conor McDermott-Mostowy, a rising star in speed-skating, has come out... but in a more subtle way than perhaps what we might be accustomed to from public figures: By just being himself. McDermott-Mostowy told Outsports that he's never had to hide who he is, comes from a supportive family and, yet, has never felt like he had to wear his sexual orientation on his sleeve. Instead, there are hints on his Instagram posts — though McDermott-Mostowy himself might shrug off the idea that he's suggesting and instead say he's just being himself. In fact, Outsports explains that when the topic of being an openly gay athlete comes up, "he's instead been happy to answer any questions, just be who he is, and always figured that if a reporter asked him about it, he'd tell the truth." But where the sports world is concerned, misconceptions about gay athletes are partly why he held his tongue. The misperception that gay athletes aren't as good sportsmen as straight cisgender men was somewhat of a hindrance, as McDermott-Mostowy explains, "I think I've kind of always had that at the back of my mind. "I don't want to talk about being gay, because there's a stereotype that gay guys aren't athletic, and I don't want that to be held against me or used to justify a bad result. "I've been uncomfortable with that. But I feel like at this point, no one can say anything." Emerging as one of the top speed skaters, McDermott-Mostowy was the United States national champion in both the 1000-meter and the mass start at the U.S. Open National Championships earlier this month. He earned a bronze medal and set personal records in the 1500-meter and the 1000-meter. He said he was so excited about the latter, in which he bettered his previous personal-best time, that he unexpectedly let out the "F-word," which rang throughout the arena as he crossed the finish line. It was 15 ago that Piers Morgan crossed the Atlantic to become a personality in the United States as well in Britain. Now the man who helped push him off morning television wants to follow in his footsteps. " 'Good Morning Britain''s Alex Beresford hopes to make it big in America after winning over numerous A-listers, including Oprah Winfrey, following his tense confrontation with Piers Morgan," reports the Daily Mail. Morgan became an American media celebrity when he first appeared as a judge on "America's Got Talent" in 2006, followed by his victory on "The Celebrity Apprentice" in 2008 where he was called "ruthless, arrogant, evil and obnoxious" by host Donald Trump. Nonetheless, they became close friends according to Morgan. He landed his own CNN show in 2011, which he hosted for three years. Now the tabloid The Sun reports "that Alex has already received multiple lucrative offers from American news shows and major radio opportunities - there's even a book deal on the table, too." EDGE reported last week that the ripped 40-year-old's Instagram workout pics were picked up by Men's Health Magazine after his row with Morgan. A Belgian bishop has lashed out at the Vatican over its decree that the Catholic Church won't bless same-sex unions since God "cannot bless sin." Antwerp Bishop Johan Bonny wrote in an opinion piece Wednesday that he feels "shame for my Church" and "intellectual and moral incomprehension" after Pope Francis approved the "negative" response to a question about whether Catholic clergy have the authority to bless same-sex unions. The official response said God "does not and cannot bless sin." Bonny, who was part of a Vatican 2015 synod on marriage and family, said: "I want to apologize to all for whom this is painful and incomprehensible." The Vatican's position has pleased conservatives, disheartened advocates for LGBT Catholics and thrown a wrench into a debate within Germany's Catholic Church, which has been at the forefront of opening discussions on hot-button issues such as Catholic teachings on homosexuality. Bonny said he was disappointed by the level of argument that ran through the note from the Vatican's orthodoxy office, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. "I am angry because these kind of pieces don't even reach the intellectual level of high school. The simplicity of arguments is jarring," he told Belgian broadcaster VRT. The Congregation's note distinguished between blessing same-sex unions and the church's welcoming and blessing of gay people, which it endorsed. It argued that such unions were not part of God's plan and that any sacramental recognition of them could be confused with marriage. The Vatican holds that gay people must be treated with dignity and respect, but that gay sex is "intrinsically disordered." Catholic teaching says that marriage is a lifelong union between a man and a woman that is part of God's plan and intended for creating new life. Anthony Ramos shared a sweet vid of himself doing sit-ups with a little help from his dog Prince as his film "In the Heights" begins to make its way to theaters in June. Ramos is already having quite a good year. In February he was named to the TIME 100, the magazine's list of influencers to watch over the year. Earlier this month, the "Hamilton" actor was part of a group of entertainment influencers included in a new Calvin Klein underwear campaign. Now this weekend Warner Brothers is teasing a series of posters for Ramos's upcoming film "In The Heights," in which he plays the lead in John M. Chu's adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway musical. The film will be released in June in theaters and on HBO Max. "Six posters surfaced on the film's official Twitter account on Saturday morning, each with a different design, though featuring the same tagline, 'The Time Has Come.'" reported The Hollywood Reporter. The playful actor recently shared a thirst-trapping video of himself doing sit-ups with a little help from his dog Prince. In the musical, Ramos plays a bodega owner struggling to make a better life for himself in Washington Heights and dreams of moving to the Dominican Republic. The role was played on Broadway in 2008 by Miranda where the musical ran for three years. Previously Ramos was featured in the 2012 national tour of the musical prior to originating two roles in Miranda's megahit "Hamilton" as part of the original cast. A male nurse in Canada committed "professional misconduct" in having "solicited unneeded intimate sexual history details" from gay patients, the British Columbia newspaper TriCity News reports. The conduct of Paul Perry at two clinics in Vancouver, Canada, came under scrutiny by the B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives. A panel determined that Perry had asked for "detailed and personal sexual histories from clients when not needed," as well as "information about past sexual, physical or psychological trauma." In probing patients' histories of abuse and trauma, the panel said Perry "may have further traumatized a client" and he "had not referred clients to appropriate supportive services in those cases" and was "found incompetent in providing psychological counseling to patients when not qualified to do so." The panel's ruling noted that Perry had been"employed in the health authorities' prevention program with the specific mandate to work with the vulnerable and high risk population of men-who-have-sex-with-men ('MSM') and said that the "level of detail": Perry sought from the patients "was not clinically indicated and was contrary to the goals and/or mandate of the MSM program". The panel specified that Perry had "recorded sexual histories in patient records using non-clinical descriptions" such as "fisting" and "bottoming," the article said, with the terms being described as "inappropriate nonclinical descriptors". This is how you do it! It's rare that a filmmaker has an opportunity to revisit a multi-million dollar blockbuster that failed to inspire imaginations when originally released. With the much anticipated "Zack Snyder's Justice League," premiering on HBO Max March 18, fans see the movie reimagined; they can now forget about the original box-office dud that nearly sank the DC movie franchise. The runtime doesn't diminish the film, despite being four hours, which is entirely re-cut and enhanced to properly incorporate many of the elements that were lacking in the initial release. The superheroes are more "super," and the villains are more formidable. Everything feels much more fleshed out and courses with blood. Affleck's "Batman" is determined and filled with a purpose to protect the planet, Gadot's "Wonder Woman" is a pillar of hope to aspire to. The enemies our heroes face have an entirely new dimension that Whedon eradicated from his release. If you read the comic book series "Origin," by Geoff Johns with art by Jim Lee, you'll see that Snyder's film is largely adapted from it. The adversary preparing to dominate Earth is revealed from the get go. The mercenary Steppenwolf (voiced by Ciarán Hinds) is relevant, and his backstory more interestingly evolved, given the villain a deadly gravitas and a mac-daddy new appearance that makes him far more formidable, not to mention much more on the level to match against the warrior goddesses of Paradise. While the running time is daunting, the original was promised as two separate, full-length movies. For his reboot, Snyder has separated each act into easily digestible narratives that feel like issues of a comic book, with a final "double sized" battle to end all battles. "Zack Snyder's Justice League" is the event film that had been promised. It's not perfect, but it's a blockbuster, it's adventurous, and it has the heart and soul that was absent the first time around. This is a "Justice League" we can rally around. After a teacher in Austin, Texas shared a children's book about transgender identity in class, the Eanes Independent School District has clapped back, calling the book out of place and offering counseling to students who heard the reading. The book in question, "Call Me Max" by Stonewall-Award winner Kyle Lukoff, centers on a transgender boy outlining his identity and is meant to help explain this idea to younger children. According to Today, the controversy climbed when local parents wrote to Forest Trail Elementary calling for the teacher in question to be fired. Eanes district's chief learning officer Susan Famborough responded, stating that while the book was listed as diverse reading, it was "not appropriate to be read aloud to an entire elementary-age class." Famborough's response quickly added that "counselors were made available to support students, and the school administration worked with families to provide an explanation and reassurances." The backlash to these responses was swift, with both the book's author and a variety of resident around the district expressing their dismay with the negative precedent these events could set for young transgender children. Jo Iveseter, whose transgender son Jeremy attended school in Eanes from kindgeraten to his senior of high school, had some choice words for the districts decision to ban the book. "It tells them that they must be invisible, that they can't talk about who they are, that they are unworthy," Ivester said of the district's decision. Lukoff reacted similarly, taking to Twitter to express his grievances with the elementary school's interpretation of his book. "Do you believe that a read-aloud about a transgender child is an equivalent trauma?" asked in the Tweet. A chance meeting at a dinner party by two people reluctant to be at that dinner party has resulted in a cookbook perfect for your next dinner party. Jesse Tyler Ferguson, star of "Modern Family," and food writer Julie Tanous have teamed up for "Food Between Friends," which blends dishes inspired by her native South and his New Mexico influences. "We just started collecting recipes and ideas based on our history and the people that we care about," said Ferguson. "I think the flavor profiles naturally go beautifully together." It's a breezy celebration of both cuisines in sections on brunch, fish, chicken, beef, desserts, starters, drinks and vegetarian dishes. Both regions come through beautifully in their green chili chicken enchilada pot pie, which takes the spirit of the South and brings it into the Southwest. Tanous, who has written food stories, developed recipes for magazines and worked in catering, said most of the recipes are riffs off what both authors grew up eating, the restaurant dishes they adore and the foods their husbands love. She traveled to New Mexico with Ferguson and would bring an extra suitcase to take home things like blue cornmeal and chilies. There's a lightness and a winking humor throughout, as when Ferguson writes about how his family would likely razz him if he called patties by the more upscale name croquette. The authors also peel back the formula to writing introductions to recipes, and argue that crispy-skin salmon — approachable, adaptable, easy to work with and liked by all — is the "Tom Hanks of protein." "We looked for funny, humorous ways to sort of not take ourselves too seriously," said Ferguson. "We're first-time cookbook authors and we didn't want to enter the room being like, 'Well, we know a lot about all of this.' We really were trying to be very respectful of where we sat as first-time authors." While both writers were well versed on items common to the South and Southwest — like beans, corn and chilies — each introduced different ingredients to the other. A Bangladeshi satellite television station has hired the country's first transgender news anchor, saying it hopes the appointment will help change society. Tashnuva Anan Shishir, who previously worked as a rights activist and actress, debuted on Dhaka-based Boishakhi TV on Monday, International Women's Day. She read a three-minute news bulletin, and after finishing cried as her colleagues applauded and cheered. "I was very nervous, I was feeling so much emotional, but I had in my mind that I must overcome this ordeal, this final test," Shishir, 29, said in an interview Tuesday. Born Kamal Hossain Shishir, she said she found in her early teens that she was stuck in a man's body and behaved like a woman. She said family members, relatives and neighbors started teasing her and she was bullied and sexually exploited. She started feeling that it was impossible to continue living and attempted suicide, she said. The worst thing that happened was that her father stopped talking to her, saying she was the reason that her family was losing face, Shishir said. "I left home," she said. She moved from her family's house in a southern coastal district to live a solitary life in the capital, where she underwent hormone therapy, worked for charities and acted with a local theater group. The parliament announced Thursday that there were 492 ballots in favor of the resolution and 141 against in a vote that came after a debate in a session of parliament in Brussels on Wednesday. The resolution came largely in reaction to developments over the past two years in Poland, where many local communities have adopted largely symbolic resolutions declaring themselves free of what conservative authorities have been calling "LGBT ideology." These towns say they are seeking to protect traditional families based on unions of men and women, but LGBT rights activists say the designations are discriminatory and make gays and lesbians feel unwelcome. The areas have come to be colloquially known as "LGBT-free zones." The resolution is the work of a cross-party group in the European Parliament, the LGBTI Intergroup. The Polish government has denounced the resolution. It argues that Poland, as a sovereign nation and a society more conservative than many Western European countries, has the right to defend its traditional family values based on a long attachment to Roman Catholicism. It accuses the EU lawmakers of overstepping their jurisdiction. The government also has argued that the rates of hate crimes are lower in Poland than in many countries in Western Europe. However, LGBT rights activists say this is impossible to measure. Kuba Gawon, who has been documenting local anti-LGBT resolutions with the group Atlas of Hate, said that there is no mention in the Polish penal code specifically about homophobic crimes, so police do not keep statistics of such crimes. Single Americans have taken sex into their own hands since the pandemic began. The average single person is masturbating three times per day, according to new research. A poll of 2,005 single Americans found three in 10 are masturbating more than once a day — and just 14% are doing it once a day. Masturbation has seen an uptick since March 2020 as nearly half (48%) are pleasuring themselves more frequently than ever before due to being indoors so much more. These solo sessions have led to some jaw-dropping orgasms — over a third (34%) experienced their best orgasm ever during the pandemic. What's led to this boom of mind-blowing pleasure? Three in 10 say trying a new position or technique has boosted their sex life amid the pandemic — like masturbating. Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of #LubeLife, the survey aimed to see how the pandemic has affected singles' sex lives and discovered over a quarter (26%) say they are watching more porn during the pandemic. Nearly half (47%) of those who are single surveyed say that they used to be embarrassed about masturbating, but since the pandemic began, they have become a lot more open to it. This new embrace of masturbation stems from the fact that 39% of respondents have experienced a dry spell in their sex lives since March 2020. And 59% of those don't plan on breaking their dry spell any time soon, even if the pandemic went away — with one in five saying they want to experiment with masturbation even more. One in 10 of those looking to extend their dry spell in a post-COVID world intend to do so because they PREFER masturbating now. Even so, 57% of those who've experienced a dry spell are worried about having sex for the first time after not recently experiencing it with a partner. In the opening sequence in "West Side Story," there is an iconic image of George Chakiris. In a close-up, he stands with one hand pressed against a red brick wall brooding with anger after being harassed by members of a rival teen gang, the Jets. Stepping away, he begins to snap his fingers joined by two other Sharks. Then to surging Leonard Bernstein music, the three break into dance, first on a street than framed against the tenements of New York's West Side that were razed after the filming was completed. In this moment, the smoldering Chakiris establishes a formidable presence in this musical retelling of "Romeo and Juliet" set amongst infighting between juvenile gangs in New York. Hollywood agreed, awarding him (along with co-star Rita Moreno) a supporting performance Oscar. Up to that point, Chakiris had been in numerous films, but largely in small roles, usually as a dancer or chorus member in such films as "The Great Caruso," "Stars and Stripes Forever," "Call Me Madam," and "The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T." He is famously seen in 1951's "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" as one of the men with Marilyn Monroe in the "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" number. And in 1953 opposite Rosemary Clooney in "White Christmas" performing "Love, You Didn't Do Right by Me." A publicity photo from that scene generated so much fan mail to Paramount that the studio offered him a contract; but unhappy with his career, he moved to New York City in the late 1950s to pursue a stage career. After being cast as Riff in the London production of "West Side Story," he was flown to Hollywood to audition for either that role or his rival Bernardo for the film version, and worked with the show's creator Jerome Robbins for his audition. This led to him being cast in the film, overnight stardom and an Oscar. Then in November of 2012, he had the honor of placing his hand and footprints in cement at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in honor of the film's 50th anniversary.
