Julius' Bar in New York City has cemented its place in the Big Apple's history. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate the long-running gay bar as an individual landmark, reported ABC news. Located on 10th Street in the West Village neighborhood, the bar has been in business since the 1860s and "played an important role in the fight for civil rights for the LGBTQ community," according to ABC. "In 1966, we had something called the sip-in," Julius' Bar manager Nick Gabriellini told ABC. "Where the state liquor authority didn't allow homosexuals to be served alcohol if they were openly gay. So, they staged the sip-in here, and there was a lawsuit." Before the Stonewall uprising, the sip-in and lawsuit was a big step for LGBTQ+ equality. "The 'Sip-In' at Julius' was a pivotal moment in our city and our nation's LGBTQ+ history, and this designation today marks not only that moment but also Julius' half-century as a home for New York City's LGBTQ+ community," said New York City Mayor Eric Adams. "Honoring a location where New Yorkers were once denied service solely on account of their sexuality reinforces something that should already be clear: LGBTQ+ New Yorkers are welcome anywhere in our city. As reported by People, the pair welcomed baby boy Rai Larson Ithiphol via surrogate on Friday, and promptly announced the news to their Instagram followers on Monday. "Ken and I are thrilled to share that our family has grown!" the "Star Trek: Discovery" actor captioned a post. He added, "Our son, Rai Larson Ithiphol, was brought into the world on Friday, December 2, 2022, by an incredibly generous surrogate, to whom we are eternally grateful." Though Nisos Mediterranean intentionally avoids being called a Greek restaurant, the menu bulges with dishes from that country, from tiropita and taramasalata to moussaka and rizogalo. Chicago has seen a surge of ambitious new Greek restaurants, but none has food that looks like Nisos’.⁠ ⁠ Take the tzatziki, which is as thick and creamy as hummus, thanks to the use of Chef Avgeria Stapaki’s imported yogurt of choice. “The yogurt I want is very thick and rich,” Stapaki said. “That’s why it has this structure and body.” Instead of raw garlic, she uses fermented black garlic along with fermented cucumber juice. The result is luxuriously smooth, making for a fantastic start to the meal.⁠ ⁠ Like nearly everything at Nisos, the moussaka is gorgeous, expensive and perplexing. Stapaki takes the homey layered dish and transforms it into a visually stunning showstopper. When the server brings it out, a fog of dry ice wafts from the edges. When Sampaio released a new single with the drag icon last Thursday, many wondered if the pair are dating. They were seen kissing on the stage of the program "Música Boa", on Multishow last week. According to her Wiki entry, Vittar is the most followed and most streamed drag queen in the world, surpassing RuPaul. In 2020, Vittar was featured in a campaign for Calvin Klein, as part of the designer's pride collection. Just when you thought "The White Lotus" Season 2 had established its main core of characters came the tease of a new hottie coming in the midst. Towards the end of the third episode, called "Bull Elephants," Portia (Haley Lu Richardson), the conflicted assistant to Tanya McQuoid-Hunt (Jennifer Coolidge), is sitting by the pool when she crosses paths with another guest -- a sexy 20-something about to take a dip. Silently, he shows all kinds of signals and thirsty energy as he shows off for Portia's benefit, that is, until he lands in the pool and cries out how cold the water is. As he swims, he stares at Portia sitting by the pool and she returns his look; but before something can develop, she is interrupted by Albie (Adam DiMarco), the sweet American with whom she is having a flirtatious relationship. This marks the first sighting of Jack (Leo Woodall) in the series, but he is said to play a larger role. He plays the nephew to a British expat (Tom Hollander), who are also vacationing at the luxury Sicilian resort. What part Jack (or his uncle) play in the remaining -- and the show's murder -- remain to be seen, but Jack in the pool certainly caught the eye. Woodall is a 26-year-old British actor who has been working in the industry since 2019. Among his acting roles are has appeared in the shows "Vampire Academy" and "Holby City," along with the movie "Cherry" and a short called "Man Down." Up next, he's set to star in a movie called "Nomad," and in the show "Citadel." Woodall is a 26-year-old British actor who has been working in the industry since 2019. This past weekend Murray revealed that "horrible" homophobic hate mail has been sent to his club. Saying he has been "humbled" by the support from fans after his historic coming out in September, he explained that several hateful leaflets were sent directly to him at his club, including one titled "Homosexuality in light of the Bible," PinkNews reported. As LGBTQ+ storytelling becomes more accepted amongst the general audiences, producers behind the TV screen have been afforded an influx of creative liberties in telling their narratives. The traditional coming out trope is no longer the only topic of relevance in a queer series, and not many shows understand this better than Netflix's Swedish phenomenon, "Young Royals." This tender and feel-good coming-of-age drama is set in a boarding school with political elites and has really taken off in its second season, which debuted earlier this month. The romance between the crown prince of Sweden, Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding), and the kind immigrant Simon (Omar Rudberg), is an incredible analysis of an array of social issues within the LGBTQ+ community such as class, race, heritage, and deception. Hulu is carving out its niche as the go-to place for salacious "ripped from the headlines" limited series demonstrating the downside to fame and fortune. Earlier this year, we saw "Pam & Tommy" dramatize the leaking of the world's most famous sex tape. Now, Hulu's showing the dark origin story of everyone's favorite cuffed exotic dancers in "Welcome to Chippendales." Dreaming of becoming rich, gas station attendant-turned-entrepreneur Somen "Steve" Banarjee (Kumail Nanjiani) originally sets out to open an upscale baccarat club in Los Angeles. Despite his calculations about the hole in the marketplace for such a club, it doesn't take off. However, a chance encounter with a Hollywood starlet/Playboy model and her boyfriend makes him see that the path to achieving his wealth is paved in oiled-up hot bodies instead of board games. But as the money flies in, Banarjee spirals and is willing to do anything to murder — quite literally — the competition and maintain his position. Creator Robert Siegel walks the line perfectly of mixing the shady underbelly with the more dramatic human interactions while never becoming overly serious. He knows what the people are here for, and is more than willing to give you plenty of hot bodies, pelvic thrusts, and clothes being ripped off. That said, he does infuse the show with issues like racism and discrimination that Banarjee faced and, in turn, perpetuated at the club by refusing to hire more than one dancer of color and resorting to other tricks to give the club an "elegant, exclusive atmosphere." Come for the titillating subject material, but stay for the performances — okay, and the male strippers, too. "Welcome to Chippendales" may be an eight-episode limited series, but binging it in one sitting wouldn't feel like a chore. Interestingly, as Steve's spiral begins to occur the episodes get shorter, with the last few reaching just over a half hour.
