Non-binary actor Bella Ramsey pushed back on homophobic trolls who bombarded the epic third episode of "The Last of Us" with hate: "they're gonna have to get used to it." Ramsey also expressed hope that the show will allow her character a lesbian storyline, according to Variety. Ramsey, who embraces a range of pronouns that includes "she/her" and "they," aired her sentiments in an interview with British GQ, following the airing of the show's fourth episode. But the instant-classic Episode 3 remained part of the conversation, having spent most of its extra-long run time focused not on Ramsey's character Ellie or the other lead Joel (Pedro Pascal), but rather on the decades-long same-sex romance of a pair of guest characters played by Nick Offerman and openly gay Australian actor Murray Bartlett. "Toxic fans review bombed the episode on websites such as IMDb, but Bill and Frank's romance is just the beginning of gay representation on 'The Last of Us,'" Variety reported. The show is, after all, adapted from its hit video game source material in which Ellie has a romance with another woman. Comments from Ramsey indicated she would be up for a same-sex romance during Season 2. "The sequel also introduces a transgender teenager named Lev," the entertainment news outlet noted. #EDGERewind :: Could we soon see a "Riverdale" and "Euphoria" crossover episode? Not likely. But that hasn't stopped fans from speculating about what KJ Apa and Eric Dane are doing together. Apa posted a photo on Instagram of himself lying on a couch with Eric Dane leaning over him. He captioned the photo "New couple alert!" and sent fans in a frenzy. Can you imagine Archie in the "Euphoria" universe? But the photo did not confirm any real life details besides the two actors knowing each other and feeling cozy doing whatever they were doing together. In reality, Dane and Apa are both co-starring in the upcoming film "One Fast Move, which probably explains why they are together and Apa's new daddy-esque buzzcut. In the film, Apa plays a discharged soldier with dreams of becoming a motorcycle racer. Dane plays his absent father. With "Riverdale" coming to an end, Apa certainly has time to join "Euphoria" Season 3, at least for a delicious cameo. #EDGERewind :: Zac Efron is addressing questions about his changing appearance over the years in a new wide-ranging interview with Men's Health. According to him, even his own mother questioned how much his appearance has changed at one point after he appeared in a clip with Bill Nye in promotion for Earth Day last year. His jaw looked noticeably swollen, leading many to assume he had work done. But according to Efron, the swollen face was the result of shattering his jaw while waltzing around his mansion and falling. He reportedly lost consciousness and when he came to "his chin bone was hanging off his face." After undergoing physical therapy, his jaw began to overcompensate and "the masseters just grew," Efron said. "They just got really, really big." That's not the only time Efron began to noticeably grow. He also opened up about the unhealthy effect his bulky "Baywatch" body had on his mental health. "That Baywatch look, I don't know if that's really attainable," he said. The look "required Lasix" and "powerful diuretics" to achieve, on top of grueling training. "I started to develop insomnia and I fell into a pretty bad depression, for a long time," Efron shared. "Something about that experience burned me out. I had a really hard time re-centering. Ultimately they chalked it up to taking way too many diuretics for way too long, and it messed something up." Former Olympic freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy thinks he is finally ready to be your leading man. He added, "But like my dream as a kid was to be the lead in a rom-com. I loved romantic comedies — to this day, they're still like my favorite movies." For Kenworthy, there is something special in the formula. "I just think it's such a great formula and I would love to get to plug into that and play the lead of a rom-com, but also get to play gay would be a dream," he said. "The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) has canceled its annual calendar full of six-pack abs and hunks due to lukewarm sales," reports the Daily Mail. The calendar made its debut in 2003 with all men. In 2014 women were added to the mix. The 2021 calendar marked its last one. It went on a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The FDNY confirmed the cancelation to the , saying the drool-worthy calendar wasn't bringing in enough, as it was in previous years. Previously, the $16 calendar would generate anything between $150,000 and $250,000 a year for the foundation. "Returning to Stuttgart's German National Judo Championships for the third year in a row, the out athlete was able to pull off the big W against former champion Tim Gramkow. This accomplishment makes Cavelius the first out fighter in the Japanese martial arts discipline to hold the title." Smyth (@smythchicago), Obelix (@obelixchicago) and Khmai Cambodian Fine Dining (@khmai_fine_dining) are among 11 Chicagoland restaurants named as semifinalists for the James Beard Foundation Restaurant and Chef Awards, in an announcement released this week.⁠ ⁠ Once again, Chicago will host the restaurant award program, considered one of the highest honors for the nation’s dining industry, with the ceremony taking place June 5 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.⁠ ⁠ While we will have to wait until March 29 for the official nominees, the semifinalist list suggests the organization is seriously attempting to broaden the playing field. While plenty of restaurants from New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco still made the list, you’ll also see restaurants from Anchorage, Alaska; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Roundup, Montana.⁠ ⁠ Chicago chefs and restaurants were shut out of the Outstanding Restaurateur and Outstanding Chef categories, but they did well elsewhere. Easily one of the most buzz-worthy films at this year's Sundance Film Festival is "Infinity Pool," the latest horror offering from Brandon Cronenberg. If that name is familiar, it is because he is son of horrormeister David Cronenberg. With two films under his belt, his third, which opens on January 27 in theaters, promises to be his most controversial. Set in an unknown Eastern European country, the film stars Alexander Skarsgård as a struggling novelist with a wealthy wife who visits a gated resort. There, they meet Mia Goth and her husband, and find themselves involved in a violent game of identity change, murder, drug taking, and sexual hijinks. One scene that has tongues wagging features Goth jerking off Skarsgård in full view of the camera. Note that according to the Hollywood Reporter, "Neon is opening 'Pool' in theaters Jan. 27 with an R-rating but the cut that screened at Sundance was NC-17." It is not known if the scene in its entirety will be in the released version. For his part, Skarsgård clearly enjoys pushing the envelope, as he did at the film's red carpet by wearing a dog collar. It evokes a moment in the film that Neon, the company releasing the film, used in their promotional materials. Vulture describes Skarsgård in a dog collar as "a gift from the Greek gods of horny." While Pajiba.com writes: "We love a self-aware hunk, and Skarsgård does it better than 99% of the tall, white, hot dudes who have somehow become more fandom-beloved than he.
