"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" is headed for the exit, ending this year after 19 seasons. And now, "Ellen's Game of Games" has gotten the axe, Variety reported. The show — which Variety noted "included supersized versions of some of the most popular games from 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'" — aired on NBC for four seasons, but it won't be back for a fifth. "The series also features Stephen 'tWitch' Boss who, with DeGeneres, oversaw the contestants playing different games over four rounds," Variety said. "The winner of each round advanced to the 'Know or Go' stage, and the winner of that round proceeded to 'Hot Hands' for a chance to win a $100,000 cash prize." Deadline relayed that the show's "family friendly format had previously been a strong performer for the network — tying for fourth among all primetime entertainment programs on broadcast with kids and ranking as primetime's number one game show in 2019." ![Celebrating its fifth anniversary, CULTUREEDIT/Tom of Finland Store is clearing the shelves to make room for the next wave of sex-positive collaborations. Since 2017, the hybrid online and brick-and-mortar shop has been carrying on the legacy of Tom of Finland with works that specialize in queer art, fashion, erotica, and more.
Tom of Finland (aka Touko Valio Laaksonen) was a prolific artist of the male form, specializing in homoerotic art and destigmatizing sexuality. The Tom of Finland Foundation carries on that legacy through its dedication to protecting, preserving and promoting the erotic arts.
The archive sale will be held January 22-23, 11 a.m. — 6 p.m. at the Tom of Finland Store, 1105 N. El Centro Avenue in Los Angeles, and will feature designers including Walter Van Beirendonck, Bernhard Willhelm, Julian Zigerli, MSGM, Orange Culture, and more.
Those with a keen eye will notice a through-line with model Terry Miller, chosen as the foundation's first U.S. ambassador. The real-life daddy, co-founder of It Gets Better and husband of legendary sex columnist Dan Savage has been a proud promoter of Tom of Finland.
"When I go to leather events such as IML [International Mr. Leather], Dore Alley, Folsom Street Fair or Folsom Europe in Berlin, I can walk around and, in my full leathers, look pretty close to a Tom of Finland model," says Miller. "Medellín, Cartagena, Barranquilla, The Coffee Region, and, of course, our capital Bogotá have emerged as friendly destinations for LGBTQ+ individuals — facing 2022, Colombia is ready to welcome with pride and respect." Pride flags wave outside city businesses, restaurants and rum tasting rooms are run by gregarious gays, and — in the metropolitan city of Medellín — everyone looks runway-ready, and, as such, is canonically queer. Almost three-quarters of the population is Roman Catholic, but don't let that statistic fool you: In urban and Andean communities alike, you'll find welcoming people, a more relaxed pace of life, and plenty to see, taste, and enjoy. French actor Gaspard Ulliel, known for appearing in Chanel perfume ads as well as film and television roles, died Wednesday after a skiing accident in the Alps, according to his agent's office and local authorities. He was 37. Ulliel portrayed the young Hannibal Lecter in 2007's "Hannibal Rising" and fashion mogul Yves Saint Laurent in the 2014 biopic "Saint Laurent." He is also in the upcoming Marvel series "Moon Knight," and was the advertising face of the Chanel men's fragrance Bleu de Chanel. On Tuesday afternoon, Ulliel collided with another skier on a slope marked as intermediate after turning left, presumably to join his friends on an adjoining slope, Anne Gaches, the Savoie prosecutor in Albertville, said in a statement issued Wednesday. Ulliel started in television while still in middle school and went on to win two of France's top cinema awards, the Cesar. Tributes poured in from shocked fans and the corridors of power. French Prime Minister Jean Castex tweeted an homage that said, "Gaspard Ulliel grew up with cinema and cinema grew up with him. They loved each other madly." As reported by NBC News, Dawn Henry attempted to buy a surprise airline ticket for her 21-year-old nonbinary child, whose birth certificate and Washington state driver's license indicate an "X" gender marker, only to discover that Delta's ticketing system only offers male or female booking options. "I am committed to fixing this, not just for my child, but for everyone who holds legal ID with an X gender marker," Henry told NBC News in a Twitter message. In an article published on Friday, January 14, 2022, The New York Times asked, "Can a Gay Cruise Keep 4,700 People Safe Amid Covid?" referencing the Atlantis Events 30th-anniversary cruise on Royal Caribbean, which departed January 16, 2022. The company released a detailed and transparent statement, claiming, "Yes, with careful execution of recommended protocols, the LGBT+ community can safely navigate these incredibly challenging times." The venerated Times, whose article quoted several people not even traveling on either cruise, did not live up to the journalistic integrity we expect and was an affront to Atlantis Events, LGBT+ travel companies in general, and the gay community," stated VACAYA co-founder and CEO Randle Roper. The British reality series "Love Island," formerly deemed "unsuitable" for same-sex romance, now seeks non-binary and LGBTQ+ contestants, UK newspaper the Daily Mail reported. "This year's 'Love Island' is set to be its most diverse yet, as it has been reported that the show's bosses are actively encouraging non-binary Islanders to apply," the article specified. British newspaper The Sun detailed that "Potential contestants asked to specify their gender on the application form are given the options of male, female, non-binary, prefer not to say, or prefer to self-describe. "They can also describe their sexual orientation as straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual or other." The Sun recalled that the show's producers "have been criticized for a lack of diversity and going for unrealistic body types." Fans have heard that the show was reforming and becoming more diverse before; prior to the start of last year's season, the ITV program was reportedly "accepting applications... from both gay and straight singletons," as UK tabloid the Daily Star reported at the time. "In one day...I lost 11,000 people. They just said, 'Elvira, you lied to me. I don't respect you any more. Goodbye,'" Peterson said.
But they won't be missed. "I got 60,000 new followers the same day!" the horror maven detailed.
What's more, it wasn't her straight fans Peterson was worried about. Talking about her LGBTQ+ fanbase, Peterson said she "hope[s] they embrace it, but I was feeling like, 'What if they think I'm a big fat hypocrite, and I was lying to them?' And here I was, going, 'I love the LGBTQ community,' and meanwhile I'm one of them and I'm not saying anything about it...that scared me more."

Former NFL player Colton Underwood says he avoided showering with teammates because he feared getting "turned on". Instead, he would skip the post-practice wash, TMZ reported. Underwood added that it was a "silly" thing to do, since "I never really was attracted to anybody who I played with, or coaches." Still, it was a fear of being outed that drove him to such extremes. Avoiding dressing and showering with his teammates was part of a larger pattern, Underwood related, saying, "There was just a lot of things that I sort of did differently than other players because I felt like I had to, because I didn't want questions to start being asked." That fear also drove other behaviors. Away from the locker room and his fellow football players, Underwood said, he tried to have sex with men he thought would also be "straight in their real life," Page Six detailed. "I don't think there was any man that was going to be coming out to get me because they would be outing themselves as well," Underwood explained, going on to say, "It wasn't like a ton of men. It was like a few, and they never had my real name". The comments are of a piece with remarks he's made on "Coming Out Colton," Page Six noted. "I was suppressing my sexuality so hard that I was taking medication daily to deal with depression and anxiety, and that made me a paranoid freak," the publication quoted Underwood as saying in the Netflix documentary series. Then in the fall, Discover Puerto Rico announced its new LGBTQ tourism campaign, "Live Out," that places transgender and gender-variant travelers front and center. "We have an epidemic of anti-LGBTQ violence in Puerto Rico, which last year Puerto Rico was the epicenter of anti-trans violence," gay Puerto Rican human rights activist Pedro Julio Serrano told the Bay Area Reporter. "If I'm a traveler and I see that Puerto Rico is the epicenter of anti-trans violence, why would I want to come there if the government isn't doing anything to keep me safe?" Yet, he still desires for Puerto Rico to welcome LGBTQ travelers. "I would love for Puerto Rico to not only welcome everyone [including] our LGBTQ+ people and gender-variant and nonbinary people, but we need to make it safe for people living here," Serrano, 47, said.

At Christmas time, Brooke and Colin Munro decorate their storybook pretty home with handmade creations woven from raffia. Here, Peggy the cattle dog watches intently as Brooke works her weaving magic. Before renovations, however, their 1970s farmhouse was in a state of disrepair. "Being the Ricardos" filmmaker Aaron Sorkin called casting only LGBTQ+ actors in LGBTQ+ roles an "empty gesture" because "Gay and straight aren't actable." Sorkin made the comments while talking about Spanish actor Javier Bardem playing Cuban entertainer Desi Arnaz in Sorkin's new film, "Being the Ricardos," UK newspaper The Times reported. Crow River Media detailed the 60-year-old filmmaker's comments, reporting that Sorkin offered the opinion that nationality — such as Bardem being Spanish and Arnaz having been Cuban — are "not actable" attributes. For the role, Bardem, 52, adjusted his accent to more closely resemble that of Santiago de Cuba-born Arnaz. "If I was directing you in a scene and said: 'It's cold, you can't feel your face,' that's actable," Sorkin argued. "But if I said, 'Be Cuban,' that is not actable. "Nouns aren't actable," Sorkin continued, before adding: "Gay and straight aren't actable. You can act being attracted to someone, but can't act gay or straight. So this notion that only gay actors should play gay characters? That only a Cuban actor should play Desi? Honestly, I think it's the mother of all empty gestures and a bad idea." Out wrestler Anthony Bowens opened up about the homophobic slur shouted at him during a recent match. In a video of the incident, an audience member is heard saying "f*****g f**" during the match. He addressed the incident in an interview with TMZ Sports. In the interview, ewrestlingnews.com reports "kind of stuff comes with the territory, being out LGTBQ athlete." He continued. "This is actually the first time I've audibly heard something like that during a performance or television. It's not indicative of the AEW fans at all because any interaction I've had with them since starting the company has all been positive. It's the first time it's happened in that sense. I have really thick skin and I'm kind of used to it from my boyfriend Michael and I, we have our own YouTube channel and when we first started it, the comments were brutal. I can't even repeat them. We're kind of used to it. There's always one person who oversteps the line and this time it was picked up on camera and I'm kind of glad it was because it amplifies the message that we still have work to do but it also shows there is so much positivity out there from the response, which as awesome to see." Josh Hartnett has some regrets about some movie roles he didn't play. After star-making turns in "Pearl Harbor" in 2001 and "Black Hawk Down," He was courted to play not one but two superheroes. "Hartnett's decision to turn down several likely career-defining roles — most famously, a three-picture deal as Superman and an offer from Christopher Nolan for Batman — has raised eyebrows ever since," reports the Aussie new site new.com.au. "It opened tons of doors," Gyllenhaal told Willie Geist during an interview for "Sunday Today." "It was crazy. It was amazing. It's defined my career in different ways." Last month Aussie footballer Josh Cavallo came out in an emotional video he called "Josh's Truth." Sent via social media, Cavallo said, "There's something personal that I need to share with everyone: I'm a footballer, and I am gay." This week Cavallo opened up about why he chose October 27 to come out, and the out ex-football star who inspired him to make the move in an interview with the Aussie newspaper The Herald Sun. (Note: story behind a paywall.) Choosing the 27th was not just a coincidence. "Cavallo wears the number 27 for the Adelaide Reds, and the 27th is his parents' wedding anniversary," the Daily Mail said. "Cavallo's treasured grandfather also died on the 27th a few years ago, making it a special number for the family." He added that it was a conversation with ex-football star, Britisher Thomas Beattie, that helped him be confident enough to come out. Beattie had offered Cavallo some advice via Instagram.
