??#SpoilerAlert for @911onfox ??The #Tarlos moment fans have been waiting for dropped on the latest episode of "9-1-1: Lone Star." And for actor @actuallyrafa, it couldn't have come at a better moment. "It's incredibly important to have this type of storyline on national television right now — especially with the endless amounts of anti LGBTQIA+ bills trying to be passed in multiple states in the United States. To have this sort of representation right at the forefront is extremely imperative," actor Rafael Silva told Entertainment Weekly. Firefighter T.K. (played by @ronenrubinstein) proposed to gay police officer Carlos (played by Silva) on an episode that aired Monday night. The couple "have become so popular that they've been given the affectionate moniker 'Tarlos' on social media," EDGE reported a year ago after the couple had a sexy onscreen hookup. "Not only does the show feature one of the first Black trans men in a regular role on network television, but its sensitivity to LGBT+ issues even emboldened one of the cast to come out as bisexual," Pink News said. "It sort of feels like a full circle for T.K. — quite a beautiful sort of arc," Rubinstein told EW. "I'm relieved that [show runner Tim Minear] decided that it was going to be T.K. that proposes to Carlos. I feel like it was a way for T.K. to close that chapter on his previous failed engagement and the trauma that came from that, with trying to commit suicide and overdosing." "I loved that the engagement was outside of the box and wonderfully bizarre in many ways."

The Sun is reporting that a British teenage footballer is about to come out as gay. He has been given the full backing of teammates and officials at his Championship club. "Sources say he is 'very relaxed' about his sexuality and the announcement he plans to make in a TV interview — and is keen to 'break the stigma' over the issue." They added: "The player told club officials and his manager about this a few weeks ago and his family already knew. "The club made it very clear it was his decision and they would back what he wanted to do. He told his teammates, some as recently as Friday, and they offered him their backing too." A source adds: "They are all more interested in how he plays and trains. He is a highly valued member of the team." Amal Fashanu, who runs the Justin Fashanu Foundation to fight homophobia and racism in football, told the Sun: 'This is very encouraging news and shows the positive steps that have been taken in society and in football. 'I am sure he will get a positive reaction and it may pave the way for others.' "

@HBOMax's "Hacks" is easily one of television's most queer-friendly shows. While star @realjeansmart's character, stand-up legend Deborah Vance, is straight and divorced, virtually everyone in her orbit is gay. Deborah's writing assistant Ava Daniels, played by @hannaheinbinder, is bisexual; Marcus (@carlclemonshopkins), Deborah's advisor, is gay, and is in a relationship with Wilson, a water maintenance man, played by @johnnysibilly. Plus there's Damien (@markindelicato), Deborah's gay personal assistant, and queer actors @poppyrepublic and Megan Stalter in the cast. No wonder the show has been labeled Jean Smart and her queer family. The show has helped increase the visibility of Sibilly, whose character hit it off with Marcus and began an odd couple relationship that continues in Season Two, which began this week on HBO Max. After the show began to air, he was cast in the reboot of "Queer as Folk," adding another queer character to his resume. If Sibilly has his way, he will only play queer characters moving forward. "For me, I always say if I never played a straight character ever again, I would be perfectly fine with that — just because there's so many queer stories that haven't been told that I am dying to tell. It would be an honor to only play queer characters forever," he said in an interview with Out Magazine. By this, Silbilly just doesn't mean a queer appearance. "Being queer doesn't mean you have to throw on a lash and some mascara — which, to be honest, is more fun. But it is that exploration of breaking down those old habits of censoring yourself in order to be considered more acceptable by society."

@billyeichner's LGBTQ+ actor packed rom-com, "Bros," is on the horizon, and he recently sat down to answer a few burning questions from Collider. Produced by @universalpictures, a preview of the film made its debut at this year's CinemaCon. Eichner co-wrote the film with director @nicholasstoller, and it is the first rom-com about gay men produced by a major studio. In his Collider interview, Eichner went into his main missions for the film, including portraying showing gay sex on film. "It was important to me. It's a part of life, you know?" said Eichner. "For straight people, for gay people, for bi people, for everyone. And we're making a romantic comedy. Sex is romantic and it's also really funny. We take sex very seriously. But sex can be really funny. And how can you do a story about two people falling for each other and not deal with sex?" The cast of "Bros" has been groundbreaking in that the entire ensemble cast is made up of all-LGBTQ+ actors. Even the straight roles are played by gay actors, including @ten_minutes_younger, theater legend @theharveyfierstein, "Saturday Night Live's" @fayedunaway, "Zola" star @therealtsmadison, "Drag Race" season 13 winner @the_symone, and more.

The first trailer has dropped for @thecw's "Nancy Drew" spinoff series "Tom Swift," featuring a gay, Black version of the iconic adventure hero, Entertainment Weekly reported. "@tianrichards already made his debut as Tom Swift on one of the best episodes of 'Nancy Drew' yet, but get ready to see him in a whole new light on his own show," EW said. As previously reported at EDGE, being gay was a prominent part of the character's depiction when he made a guest appearance on "Nancy Drew." Sparks flew between Tom Swift and "Nancy Drew" regular character Nick (Tunji Kasim), leading to an onscreen kiss. But, the EW report added, "There's so much more to him than what was in last year's backdoor pilot that aired as a season 2 episode of 'Nancy Drew,' and Tom absolutely sizzles onscreen." EDGE noted in an earlier report on Tian Richards' casting that series co-creator Noga Landau was specific about the show featuring an updated version of the classic character that would be a better fit for the times. "Something that I'm personally most excited about with 'Tom Swift' is that it's going to be an epic cosmic romance that positions a queer Black man right in the middle of it as the object of desire and as the alpha male of the story," Landau told EW. "That's just so important to put on screen right now."

This week, @lmorganlee made @theTonyawards history as the first trans actress to be nominated for the award. She received the nod for Best Supporting Actress for @strangeloopbway, @thelivingmichaeljackson's musical that leads a tight pack with 11 nominations. A year ago the musical won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. "My mind isn't processing that this is real," Lee told Playbill after the nominations were announced. "I can't stop crying. To specifically be a Trans actress in the company of these incredible women that I respect and have enjoyed for many years... this nomination is so much bigger than me. I hope someone will see this moment, and feel like they can go on. No matter what the world, or school, or people tell them they are 'supposed' to be, how they are 'supposed' to sound, that they will keep striving to love and embrace the fullest version of who they are. That they can safely find breath in choosing truth. That they will keep studying, and working, and dreaming the biggest dreams. I'm so full of gratitude this morning that I'm likely to burst!" Then she added: "But first, an iced coffee, and I'll probably watch 'The View.'" EDGE chats with L Morgan Lee!

BYU student @jillianoreo bravely flashed a Pride flag at her graduation. Now, the bisexual grad says she's ready for whatever's next, People Magazine reported. The infamously conservative school has an "honor code" that denies legitimacy to same-sex relationships. "I don't know if they are allowed to take away my degree," Orr told People. "I don't know if they're allowed to freeze my transcripts." Whatever BYU might do, "I'm ready to face it and take accountability and own that," Orr said, "because I'm not ashamed of what I did because I understand that there may be negative consequences to choosing what is right." As previously reported at EDGE, Orr, 28, flung her gown open during her graduation to reveal a Pride flag sewn inside as a lining. She later shared her story in a video on TikTok, as well as on Facebook. The story instantly went viral. In her video, Orr had explained that the school could punish LGBTQ+ people in same-sex relationships by expelling them and revoking their degrees, and said that because of this hard-line stance, LGBTQ+ students remained in hiding until after graduation. "I will not hide," Orr declared in her social media posts. "I will be seen."

"I will be seen." Tap link in bio to continue on @EDGEmedianetwork ?️‍?????? ?: Jillian Orr / @jillianoreo

Gay author Eric Rosswood (@ericrosswood) wants LGBTQ+ kids to believe in themselves. In his new children's book "Strong," Rosswood tells the story of Rob Kearney (@worlds_strongest_gay), a gay strongman who trains himself to lift hundreds of pounds. As the story progresses, Kearney learns with the help of his husband to fully embrace who he is without worrying about what other people think of him. Rosswood co-authored the book with Kearney. The book is short, simple, and to the point. Each page features a drawing by Nidhi Chanani (@nidhiart). Each drawing comes with a short text that tells Kearney's story. The book poses a simple question for its readers: What makes you strong? In Kearney's case, his strength comes from not only his ability to lift heavy weights, but also from his ability to proudly be who he is. In an interview with our friends at @BayAreaReporter, Rosswood revealed that he first discovered Kearney's story in an online article and was quite taken with him. He found the story inspiring and felt that it would also inspire young people. The book follows Kearney through his childhood, when he was found to be an unusually strong kid. When he was 17, a teacher introduced him to Strongman, a competition which tested strength. Kearney began training. He ran, swam, and lifted weights, eventually being able to lift four hundred pounds. Whenever he finished training, Kearney would change into his colorful street clothes, which he felt were more representative of him. At one weightlifting event, Kearney meets Joey, and the two fall in love. Joey notices that Kearney always changes into drab colored clothes when he lifts weights, saying that strongmen don't wear bright colors. "Well then," said Joey. "I'll wear bright colors with you."

Hundreds of students at a central Florida high school were told they won't get their yearbooks until they're censored to cover up images of students holding rainbow flags and a "love is love" sign during a protest of the state's so-called "Don't Say Gay" law. Lyman High School Principal Michael Hunter said in a statement on Monday that "pictures and descriptions" documenting a student walk-out in March in response to Florida's Parental Rights in Education law were not "caught earlier in the review process." "Rather than reprinting the yearbook at substantial cost and delay, we have elected to cover that material that is out of compliance with board policy so that yearbooks can be distributed as soon as possible," the principal's statement said. The yearbook's faculty advisor Danielle Pomeranz told the Orlando Sentinel that she was asked to check into putting stickers over the photos and captions depicting the walkout. She said it would cost $45,000 to reprint the 600 yearbooks. "This really shouldn't be happening because all we did as journalists was document what was happening at our school on our campus," Skye Tiedemann, one of the yearbook's editors-in-chief, told the Sentinel. "To have that covered up isn't right. ... This is censorship." Tiedemann told WKMG that students were supposed to have a party on Monday to have yearbooks signed by their classmates, but that was canceled. Students at the school in Longwood, which is near Orlando, have created a hashtag "Stop the Stickers," which is circulating on social media. They also planned a peaceful protest at Tuesday night's meeting of the Seminole County School Board, WKMG reported.

Could Joe Locke (@joelocke03) one day play a gay @Disney prince? The 18-year-old star of the hit @Netflix series "Heartstopper" says it's an ambition. Are you listening, House of Mouse? Locke gave voice to his dream during an interview with UK newspaper the Independent, which noted that "Heartstopper" — about a high school romance between an openly gay teen and a popular athlete just starting to figure out his sexuality — has "been dubbed the 'anti-Euphoria,' swapping drugs and sex for milkshakes and snow angels." Locke addressed this aspect of the series, telling the Independent that "Our story is not so based on sex, because our characters are turning 15 and 16 in the series, so it's more about relationships and love." Viewers have responded, making the show a breakout hit from day one and making Locke (and the rest of the cast) stars. As People Magazine noted, "Since premiering last month on Netflix, 'Heartstopper' has held a rare 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes." Locke put his finger on why. "It shows the really nice things about being queer," he told the newspaper. "I think a lot of queer people growing up feel like they don't deserve love, because they don't have access to the same dating pool or support as straight people do. And so 'Heartstopper' is so lovely in that it gives that to queer characters." People Magazine, reporting on the story, zeroed in on one of Locke's most intriguing comments. "I would love to play the first gay Disney prince," Locke told the Independent. "That would be a dream." After the Independent published the interview, Locke doubled down with a tweet.
