Behind every great garden is a great story. Thatâs definitely true of the landscape surrounding Ford House in Bridgetown, WA where a flock of geese freely roam. The garden has a long, 120 year history, but current owner Jenny Brickwoodâs chapter began in 1995. Back then, she and her partner Ken Rotman were only novice gardeners but knew the place had to be theirs. "We didn't have children together, so it was like our baby. We were constantly thinking about what we could put here, or plant there. It was a beautiful obsession," says Jenny. In a one-hectare garden, where rows of manicured hedges give way to rambling roses and a pool-turned-pond, there is plenty to be admired. This little bench, shaded by the generous branches of a Manchurian pear tree, is the perfect place to sit and take it all in. Can you believe that when the owner took on this project, she hadnât even owned as much as a single pot plant? Sometimes a group of simple things can make a grand display. At the home of winemakers Peter and Hannah Logan of @logan_wines, vintage china, silver cloches and artworks hang above a rustic sideboard. Hannah worked closely with interior stylist @megan_morton to ensure that her "million ideas" wouldnât overwhelm the space. Originally designed by Edna Walling in the late 1930s, the gardens at @eurambeen eventually fell into complete disrepair. Looking for a slower pace of life, one couple stumbled upon the property and, despite the fact that their former garden was only âthe size of [a] dining table,â they created a five-year plan and set to work. This is what the garden looks like today.
