The ad is part of a campaign that the site's Australian branch is currently running, titled "Here for Real Love," noted Comic Sands. But the leader of the American evangelical group, Monica Cole, took exception to the ad's depiction of two cozily committed fellows, who are shown, as Cole pointed out in an email blast, "hugging, feeding each other, and wiping the other one's mouth." It wasn't just the overt display of playful affection that left the group clutching its pearls. Ronan Gordon claims that he was set upon and beaten by a group of bouncers at Bloom, a gay nightclub in Manchester, England, in an "unprovoked attack" that knocked him out and left him with facial injuries that will require surgery. Gordon took to Instagram, where he described a brutal ordeal he said came out of the blue in the early hours of Jan. 22. "Last night while I was in bloom I was targeted by 5 bouncers and beaten in a unprovoked attack," Gordon posted, going on to add, "I have a broken nose a shattered eye socket and have to have surgery..." Gordon alleged that he "was knocked unconscious on the floor," and claims that although the bouncers were "told to stop" the beating, they "carried on." Out reported that Bloom initially posted its own account of what happened on social media, addressing Gordon by name and accusing him of having started the fracas. Gordon disputed those assertions. France has a new law that bans so-called conversion therapies and authorizes jail time and fines for practitioners who use the scientifically discredited practice to attempt to change the sexual orientation or gender identity of LGBTQ people. The National Assembly approved the new law unanimously, voting 142-0 on Tuesday evening. The legislation includes criminal penalties for people who are convicted of trying to "convert" LGBTQ people to heterosexuality or traditional gender expectations. Soccer fans in Mexico who utter anti-LGBTQ+ chants will be banned from attending games for five years, the head of the Mexican Football Federation vowed, ESPN reported. "Mexico have struggled to eradicate certain terrace chants over recent years, particularly one shouted when opposition keepers take a goal kick, leading to them being sanctioned by FIFA," Goal.com detailed. According to Goal.com, the chants have already resulted in a decision to bar all fan attendance from two upcoming matches, though that decision was recently reversed. Mexican national team "El Tri were due to play their next two World Cup qualifiers, at home against Costa Rice and Panama on January 30 and February 2 respectively, behind closed doors due to previous instances of anti-gay chanting," Goal.com said. "The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has, however, lifted those sanctions and supporters will be allowed to attend fixtures at the Estadio Azteca โ although the stadium capacity will be reduced to just 2,000." "Adam," an hourlong play written by Frances Poet, stars Adam Kashmiri and is based on Kashmiri's experiences as a transgender man, first in his native Egypt โ where he faces constant misgendering and dangerous anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment โ and then as a refugee seeking asylum on Scotland. "Adam" pushes buttons that not even the acclaimed documentary "Flee," also about an LGBTQ+ refugee from an Arabic country, put its finger on. The story is told, adroitly and with emotional force, through a mixture of flashbacks and present-day interactions with a mental health nurse (Stephen McCole) who's come to check on Adam โ who, at that point, has been living in isolation for 403 days (a tally that grows to 600 as his struggle continues). Not much about this play is gentle, in fact, but everything about it speaks to the needless pain and terror transgender people are subjected to in repressive places around the world โ which, sadly, includes a number of American states. The pay's universality and unflinching honesty give it a harrowing power, but also a deeply affecting poignance that's amplified, and given voice anew, by a choir of 140 transgender and non-binary singers from around the world. A haunting work, "Adam" holds out hope for healing and happiness. It's a story that needs to be told โ now more than ever. French actor Gaspard Ulliel, known for appearing in Chanel perfume ads as well as film and television roles, died Wednesday after a skiing accident in the Alps, according to his agent's office and local authorities. He was 37. Ulliel portrayed the young Hannibal Lecter in 2007's "Hannibal Rising" and fashion mogul Yves Saint Laurent in the 2014 biopic "Saint Laurent." He is also in the upcoming Marvel series "Moon Knight," and was the advertising face of the Chanel men's fragrance Bleu de Chanel. On Tuesday afternoon, Ulliel collided with another skier on a slope marked as intermediate after turning left, presumably to join his friends on an adjoining slope, Anne Gaches, the Savoie prosecutor in Albertville, said in a statement issued Wednesday. Ulliel started in television while still in middle school and went on to win two of France's top cinema awards, the Cesar. Tributes poured in from shocked fans and the corridors of power. French Prime Minister Jean Castex tweeted an homage that said, "Gaspard Ulliel grew up with cinema and cinema grew up with him. They loved each other madly."
