Comic book writer Tom Taylor says he could not be happier with the reaction to his portrayal of a new Superman as bisexual.⁠ ⁠ "People (are) contacting me from everywhere just saying they saw the headline and they burst into tears. On this installment of Netflix against the world, Australian comedian Hannah Gadsby has come out swinging against the streaming giant's handling of the blowback from Dave Chappelle's comedy special.⁠ ⁠ "Now I have to deal with even more of the hate and anger that Dave Chappelle's fans like to unleash on me every time Dave gets 20 million dollars," Gadsby shared in an Instagram post.⁠ ⁠ This after Netflix suspended employees, and caused a transgender producer to part ways from the company, incited employees to plan a walkout on Oct. 20, and co-CEO Ted Sarandos double defended Chappelle's comedy special as something that does not "translate to real-world harm."⁠ ⁠ He also said the streamer was "working hard to ensure marginalized communities aren't defined by a single story."⁠ ⁠ "So we have 'Sex Education,' 'Orange Is the New Black,' 'Control Z,' Hannah Gadsby and Dave Chappelle all on Netflix," he explained. "Key to this is increasing diversity on the content team itself."⁠ ⁠ Gadsby has other thoughts: "Hey Ted Sarandos," she wrote on Instagram. The state of Texas removed two LGBTQ resource pages from the Department of Family and Protective Services' website after Republican governor candidate Don Huffines called them "offensive," reported NBC news. Huffines is running to unseat current Gov. Greg Abbott, who has made plenty headlines lately for laws against reproductive freedom. In tweets attacking Abbott, Huffines said the resource pages — which included a link to a suicide prevention hotline — were using "tax dollars to advocate for transgender ideology." In another tweeted video, Huffines specifically accused a webpage titled "Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation" of not being of Texas values. "These are not Texas values. These are not Republican Party values. But these are obviously Greg Abbott's values," Huffines said in the video. In August, Texas officials removed the page about gender identity and sexual orientation and also removed a page connected to the Texas Youth Connection that included a suicide hotline for LGBTQ youth. According to the Department of Family and Protective Services, the pages have been removed for review, and the review "is still ongoing," reported NBC. However, the Houston Chronicle reported that emails obtained via public records request show there was prior discussion about Huffines' tweets before removal of the pages. Ryan as Pastor Eddie, a preacher harboring secrets and attempting to make a fresh start with his husband Quentin, portrayed by Jackson," reports Metro Weekly. The couple faces an uphill battle, as Pastor Eddie's still trying to forgive Quentin for burning down his church in a jealous rage." O'Neal, who is co-writing the screenplay, discussed the series on the website Raynbow Affair. "This story deals with the hypocrisy within the church," says O'Neal. Two high-profile lawyers warn that conservatives are coming for marriage equality, and the courts, including SCOTUS, could give them what they want, TheRealNews.com reports. And they aren't just any lawyers: They're Joe Dunman and Dan Canon, two members of the legal team that successfully litigated for marriage equality in Obergefell v. Hodges, the 2015 Supreme Court case that made marriage equality legal in every American state. With the Supreme Court having stood back and allowed Texas' new law against abortion — the most restrictive in the nation — to come into effect, "GOP state legislatures smell blood in the water," Canon told the outlet, "and you'd better believe they're going to try to get away with whatever they can." "We could see a situation where life and liberty is very different between blue and red states," Canon added. Dunman had already issued a warning on Twitter about the ease with which the current Supreme Court, which boasts three Trump appointees — plus a system of lower courts that have been similarly packed with conservatives — could snatch marriage rights from millions of American families. Dave Chappelle is getting pushback for making transphobic and homophobic comments in his Netflix special "The Closer." In the special, which began airing on Tuesday, he says "Gender is a fact," before going on to slam the transgender community. "Trans women" genitalia are "not quite what it is," he says, before throwing his support with controversial "Harry Potter" creator J.K. Rowling. Last year, Rowling was roundly criticized for tweets considered transphobic, which she defended in a lengthy post on her website. Deadline reports that Chappelle also said he's part of 'Team TERF!' (the acronym for trans-exclusionary radical feminist). GLAAD tweeted their issues with Chappelle's comments: "Dave Chappelle's brand has become synonymous with ridiculing trans people and other marginalized communities. Negative reviews and viewers loudly condemning his latest special is a message to the industry that audiences don't support platforming anti-LGBTQ diatribes. We agree." Chappelle's comments have also led to Netflix losing Jaclyn Moore, an executive producer of the series, "Dear White People." Moore tweeted she will no longer be working with the streaming service. Though happy with her relationship with Netflix, she wrote: "I will not work with them as long as they continue to put out and profit from blatantly and dangerously transphobic content." If you've been online in the past week, you've probably seen something about "Squid Game," the new Korean drama on Netflix that is taking the world by storm. Created, written, and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the dystopian survival thriller debuted on the streaming service back on Sept. 17 but it's only recently that the show has caught the attention of the world, trending on Netflix in all countries and becoming one of the streamer's most-watched shows ever. The nine-episode Season 1 of "Squid Game" follows a number of characters in South Korea who are in debt or in desperate need of money. Hundreds of contestants are recruited to compete in children's games for a huge cash prize, but the competitions are deadly and there's only one winner. Wi Ha-joon, a 30-year-old actor and model, recently spoke to Vulture about his character in "Squid Game," the future of the show, acting, and his eye-popping Men's Health cover. A gay Trump staffer was summarily fired — and given an armed escort on his way out of the White House — when his "lively Grindr account" was discovered, former Melania Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham recounts in a new memoir, Business Insider reported. The book, titled "I'll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw in the Trump White House," includes a passage that talks about the firing of the staffer, who worked in Melania's office along with Grisham. The two were close friends, Insider noted. Grisham said that early in 2018, she was informed that the unnamed gay staff member was being let go even though he had been working with the then-president "for more than three years" because there was an "issue with his security clearance," the article said. The gay staffer was then "walked out of the White House by a woman from Human Resources, followed by an armed Secret Service agent, and not given a second thought," Grisham writes in her memoir. "Whoever determined security clearances had come across his Grindr account and decided that some of the stuff on it would be 'personally embarrassing' to Mrs. Trump," Grisham explains in the memoir. Daniel Craig has jumped back into the James Bond franchise for one last gig, but the character has evolved over the last 15 years — and so has his wardrobe. Esquire notes that Craig's 007 has changed up his sartorial style in ways that make sense for "a man north of fifty," eschewing body-hugging ensembles for "soft, earthy textures" that give off "dad dressing" and "history teacher" vibes. "Craig's Bond has long favored too-tight business tailoring — we know you're muscly, Daniel! - so it's a relief," the article says, to see him take to clothes that are "cut to be at once roomy and flattering," especially when some of the clothes he's rocking in the new flick are by designer Massimo Alba. At one point, as "Bond pilots a launch into harbor," he's looking "very varsity; very JFK," Esquire adds. "A younger, sillier Bond might have opted for neoprene, or something garish and many-pocketed, but Ol' Papa Craigo kept it Hamptons, as any aged sailor with style should do." Craig's graceful aging has influenced the new film in other ways, including the script; as the EDGE review for "No Time to Die" notes, the actor "insisted on bringing in Phoebe Waller-Bridge as co-writer to add humor and sensitivity — as well as a stronger voice for strong women."
