2021 has been a big year for out singer/actor Olly Alexander. The Years and Years lead singer showed his acting chops in a big way as one of the leads in "It's a Sin," Russell T. Davies' moving series that looked at the AIDS epidemic in Britain in the 1980s. In a critic's pick review in the New York Times, television critic James Poniewozik wrote: "Among a roundly excellent cast, Alexander is especially good at showing the boyish light that Ritchie keeps alive in himself even as he grows increasingly afraid it will be snuffed out early." The show was a big hit on both sides of the Atlantic, even leading to an increase in HIV testing in England. Learning of this, Alexander said on the BBC Breakfast morning show: "I'm trying not to cry. I think it's just amazing to see a real-time response to the show from the audience who is watching. I'm just really moved by it honestly." Today, Alexander posted new music to YouTube, the first single from his new album, called "Starstruck," the French website TÊTU reports. "Pop and efficient, this new track with funk accents is reminiscent of Justin Timberlake's Can't Stop The Feeling . If I could bottle you, I'd sip you all night,' the openly gay singer admits."
