Do Pepsi and mango sound like a perfect match? And how did that become the premise of the new MTV reality dating show "Match Me If You Can?" "Today, Pepsi and MTV dropped a trailer to announce the upcoming debut of 'Match Me If You Can,' a fresh spin on reality show dating inspired by the latest surprising perfect match - Pepsi and mango. Pepsi Mango and MTV set out to answer the age-old question - what if your favorite stars from across the reality TV universe were mixed up together for a chance to find their surprising perfect match?" reads a Pepsi press release. "The whole premise behind this latest glorified (flavored) Pepsi commercial is that Pepsi and mango make a 'surprising perfect match,' writes writes The Wrap in a report on the release of the show's trailer. Amongst the contestants is Australian reality show star and social influencer Harry Jowsey, whose thirst-trapping IG has gotten him some 3.7 million followers. Jowsey was the breakout star of the Aussie reality show "Too Hot to Handle," who "dubbed the term 'Boyfriend Dick' when explaining his own peen. 'It's not too big, it's not too small. Just perfect. Looks pretty,' " reported Cosmopolitan a year ago. "And boy, oh boy, did he start a revolution (...and apparently also a T-shirt line, which we are in no way affiliated with)." "The Nanny" has found a streaming home. Fran Drescher's hit series, which aired on CBS for six seasons throughout the 1990s, was nearly impossible to be streamed online until HBO Max put the series up two weeks ago. Drescher co-created (with her ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson) and starred in the series — which follows Fran Fine, a Jewish fashionista from Flushing, Queens, New York, who becomes the nanny of three children from the New York-British high society. When they came up with the idea, they pitched it to CBS as a spin on 'The Sound of Music,' except, in Drescher's words: "Instead of Julie Andrews, I come to the door." Drescher's character in "The Nanny" made her a star, thanks in part to the authenticity she brought to the role. Like her Fran Fine, Drescher was born and raised in Long Island (Queens, to be exact). She also conceived the character as a tribute to her mother, who did work, like Fran Fine, in a bridal shop. EDGE spoke to Drescher recently about the show coming to HBO Max, "The "Nanny" musical, her longtime support for LGBTQ rights, and, as a cancer survivor, Cancer Schmancer, a non-profit organization aimed to educate women about their health risks. Former star of ABC's "The Bachelor" Colton Underwood came out as gay in an exclusive interview with Robin Roberts on "Good Morning America." "I've ran from myself for a long time. I've hated myself for a long time... and I'm gay. And I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it. And the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know. I'm still nervous, but yeah... It's been a journey for sure." Underwood said it was the events of 2020 that made "people look at themselves in the mirror and figure out who they are and what they've been running from or what they've been putting off in their lives." Battling nerves, Underwood expressed that he was "emotional in, like such a good, happy, positive way," and "the happiest and healthiest" he has ever been. Underwood described the "dark and bad" moments before he felt comfortable admitting his truth and described his "wake up call" where he felt like he "would've rather died" than admit to being gay. "There was a moment in L.A. that I woke up and I didn't think I was gonna wake up. I didn't have the intentions of waking up. And I did." Tap link in bio to continue on @EDGEmedianetwork ?️‍?? "On National Coming Out Day in October 2015, I posted on Facebook a brief paragraph about coming out," wrote surfer and lifeguard Nick Vallejo in a 2017 Outsports column. "I received support from loving families and my own. I broke down crying in my room with relief. I thought that after coming out on Facebook everything would be better, but for me it got worse." It became the darkest time of his life. But with the support of family and friends, "Vallejo started to view life in a different way," Outsports wrote in a story this week. "He embarked on previously unimaginable activities, such as attending Coachella or galavanting around West Hollywood. Each new adventure brought him more confidence. Now, Vallejo wants to show himself off." And to do so he started his OnlyFans page last month. "I just felt the most important thing for me to do was own myself," Vallejo told me on this week's episode of the Outsports podcast "The Sports Kiki." "And I don't know, maybe my future man can see that and be like, 'Oh, this guy is hot. He's confident. He knows what he likes. Come find me.'" Not to be outdone by Christopher Meloni, Sebastian Stan showed off his melonis, but this time it's a Full Monty shot he posted on Instagram. And did so with a teasing message that explained where you could see more. "MONDAY, the movie. Out this Friday, April 16. When I say we gave it our 'all', we literally did. Check out how to watch at the link in my bio." The pic has Stan standing in the middle of a rain-soaked city street at night shot from the rear. He wears an open parka with his arms extended causing the jacket to rise high enough to show his buns. His new film "Monday," directed by Argyris Papadimitropoulos, was shot before the pandemic and is out on April 16 on IFC. The film "follows the story of Mickey (Sebastian Stan) and Chloe (Denis Gough), two Americans in their mid-thirties living in Athens, who meet in the heat of summer one whirlwind weekend," reads the film's website synopsis. "When Chloe's time in Greece is drawing to a close, she decides to give up her high-flying job back home and explore whether one weekend's passion can stand the reality of the inevitable Monday." "It's refreshingly raw and honest, standing in juxtaposition to the glossier world of Stan's Marvel series," is the way the Observer described the film in an interview with the actor. How do you make more inclusive with LGBTQ contestants? The hugely successful ITV British reality series has faced criticism for its lack of LGBTQ representations. "While previous series of 'Love Island' have included bisexual stars, the show is yet to include gay couples," writes the British tabloid The Daily Star. "ITV is accepting applications for Love Island 2021 from both gay and straight singletons, despite show execs admitting it would be hard to make a mixed sexuality version of the show work," reports the Daily Star. "Producers say they are open to any applicant who is looking for love so long as they are over 18." To do so, they have formed a partnership with the dating app Tinder to face-track the application process with ads promoting the recruitment process appearing on both the app's gay and straight-identified users profiles. "While it would have been possible to only get the ads to show on straight singleton's profiles, the adverts have been regularly appearing on gay profiles," adds the Daily Star. A source said: "ITV and Love Island teamed up with Tinder earlier this year to find a new batch of islanders. They have been placing the ads strategically inside the app so you have to swipe left or right. The ads have been showing up on both male and female gay accounts as well as on those of straight people." An ITV rep added: "Our only stipulation for applicants on Love Island is that they are over 18, single and looking for love." Tap link in bio to continue on @EDGEmedianetwork (?: iTV)

This week it was announced that actor Josh O'Connor ("The Crown") and writer/director Francis Lee ("God's Own Country," "Ammonite") are planning to work again, this time on a gay horror film. Before he became an international star as Prince Charles in "The Crown," Josh O'Connor starred as the gay sheep farmer who becomes involved with a male Romanian migrant worker (Alec Secareanu). O'Connor went on to numerous acting nominations for the role, winning a British Independent Film Awards for Best Actor. The film was directed by Francis Lee, whose latest film is the lesbian period drama "Ammonite" that stars Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan (available for streaming on Hulu). "In a profile for Esquire, "the director revealed that Josh O'Connor, who led his remarkable debut film 'God's Own Country' will lead this project," wrote Film Stage. "While he wouldn't disclose the novel he's adapting for his third feature, it was noted it will touch on 'class and queerness,' following 'a sad young man alone in an epic wilderness.' Since 'God's Own Country,' O'Connor has starred in 'Emma' and 'The Crown.' " "The worlds he creates," O'Connor told Esquire about Lee's creative process, "he lives in for years, before filming, during filming and after. So many film-makers just go from project to project but the magic of Francis is he can't. I know it can be really painful for him, and traumatic, but ultimately it's healing. London often appears as a top destination for LGBTQ travelers, but post-COVID, what will be left of the city's queer community? A new article on The Face offers encouragement. "I like to think of London as more than just a city: I see it as a living organism, forever contracting and expanding in a multitude of ways," writes Alim Kheraj. Kheraj's new book, "Queer London," comes out in paperback on April 13 and offers a snapshot of the city through an LGBTQ lens. At first glance, London is suffering a similar fate to other LGBTQ metropolitan areas. Kheraj reported for Evening Standard that 60 percent of the city's queer spaces have shuttered in the last decade. While visitors may not find the same number of gay bars around town, they'll see representation when they reach in their wallets and pull out a 50-pound banknote, which now features World War II code breaker Alan Turing. 2021 has been a big year for out singer/actor Olly Alexander. The Years and Years lead singer showed his acting chops in a big way as one of the leads in "It's a Sin," Russell T. Davies' moving series that looked at the AIDS epidemic in Britain in the 1980s. In a critic's pick review in the New York Times, television critic James Poniewozik wrote: "Among a roundly excellent cast, Alexander is especially good at showing the boyish light that Ritchie keeps alive in himself even as he grows increasingly afraid it will be snuffed out early." The show was a big hit on both sides of the Atlantic, even leading to an increase in HIV testing in England. Learning of this, Alexander said on the BBC Breakfast morning show: "I'm trying not to cry. I think it's just amazing to see a real-time response to the show from the audience who is watching. I'm just really moved by it honestly." Today, Alexander posted new music to YouTube, the first single from his new album, called "Starstruck," the French website TÊTU reports. "Pop and efficient, this new track with funk accents is reminiscent of Justin Timberlake's Can't Stop The Feeling . If I could bottle you, I'd sip you all night,' the openly gay singer admits."
