A man was arrested Thursday for purposefully damaging a new LGBTQ pride crosswalk at a South Florida intersection, police said. The 20-year-old man turned himself in to Delray Beach police and was charged with criminal mischief over $1,000, reckless driving and a felony enhancement for evidence of prejudice. Witnesses told police that they saw the man doing what appeared to be an intentional "burnout" with his pickup truck over the LGBTQ pride crosswalk, according to a police report. This caused the vehicle to create significant damage to the streetscape painting. One witness provided investigators with smartphone video of the crime. The $16,000 street art was unveiled Saturday and paid for by the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the Palm Beach Post reported. An investigative report has uncovered more than two dozen companies that wave the rainbow flag during Pride Month but contribute to anti-LGTBQ politicians, Jezebel has reported. "Corporate rebrandings for Pride month — rainbow Twitter avatars, cringe-inducing ads, you name it — are cynical enough on their own, contributing to the commercialization and depoliticization of the movement for gay liberation," Jezebel notes, adding that, at the same time, a number of such companies are also "actively funding efforts to restrict the rights of those they claim to support." The initial report was posted by Popular Information, which "found that 25 major corporations have spent more than $10 million since 2019 supporting members of Congress with a zero rating on the latest Congressional scorecard produced by the Human Rights Campaign. ... These same corporations have also donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to state legislators who have sponsored anti-trans legislation this year." The disconnect in the favorable ratings by the HRC's Corporate Equality Index for companies that give to anti-LGTBQ lawmakers is the result of "HRC's methodology," Popular Information explained, which "excludes political donations, enabling corporations to craft a pro-LGBTQ image while bankrolling politicians that are undermining LGBTQ rights." Results from Planet Fitness' fifth annual survey reveals how Americans feel about the body type that's defined the art of fatherhood for five straight years. Of course, "daddy" in the gay community and "daddy" on Main Street USA may mean different things to different people, but that's not stopping us from celebrating daddies in all their glory. In 2017, the inaugural "dad bod" study uncovered that 64% of men with dad bods were comfortable and confident in their own skin. Today, those same figures continue to climb, with 69% of men with dad bods noting they are confident and comfortable with their physique, and 52% of men proclaiming they are (still) attracted to men with the body type. But, despite a growing affinity for the body type, half of all men with dad bods (50%) feel judged by others for their bodies — a number that's jumped 10% since just last year alone. Pride Month got even hotter after Luke Evans posted a shirtless snap on Instagram of him wearing a pair of Pride-inspired Versace underwear. "Wear your pride," the 42-year-old captioned the photo, showing him wearing underwear featuring Pride colors and the brand's logo on its waistband. "Live your pride. Be your pride. And be kind. Everyone deserves to have happiness. Human rights belong to everyone. #happypridemonth and every other month of the year! Thanks @versace for my rainbow pants (yes, that's what we call them in Britain)." "While the post attracted a few trolls who claimed to be 'disappointed' in Evans for speaking out on his sexuality, the overwhelming majority of commenters cheered 'The Girl on the Train' star on for his, to quote one follower, 'thirst trap,' noted Yahoo! Life. "Happy Pride Luke! Everyone does deserve love! Love your rainbow," one fan commented, while another expressed how "proud" they were of him for showing support for his community. This latest photo from Evans continues a recent shift in the actor's presence on social media as he's become more open to sharing his personal life with fans. Lawmakers in Hungary passed legislation Tuesday that prohibits sharing with minors any content portraying homosexuality or sex reassignment, something supporters said would help fight pedophilia but which human rights groups denounced as anti-LGBT discrimination. The conservative ruling party of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban introduced the legislation, which is the latest effort to curtail the rights of gay men, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people in the central European nation. Hungary's National Assembly passed the bill on a 157-1 vote. The ruling Fidesz party has a parliamentary majority, and lawmakers from the right-wing Jobbik party also endorsed the measure. One independent lawmaker voted against it. All other opposition parties boycotted the voting session in protest. Human rights groups had denounced the measure strongly, seeing it as a tool that could be used to stigmatize and harass residents because of their sexual orientations and gender identities. Some human rights officials have compared it to the so-called gay "propaganda" law passed by Russia in 2013 which human rights officials say has become a tool to harass sexual minorities. "On this shameful day, the opposition's place is not in the parliament but on the streets," Budapest Mayor Karacsony wrote on Facebook. Tap link in bio to continue on @EDGEmedianetwork ?️???? Just outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma, in a stongly conservative community, one dad is going viral for showing his gay son support with a flag, reported BuzzFeed News. Celebrating a year since his son came out, Caden came out, the John Wyatt decided to hoist an ally flag up in the air outside of their home in Oklahoma for Pride Month. "We are fixin' to shock Oklahoma," Wyatt said in a Tiktok, BuzzFeed News reports. Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" played in the background. The moment has since gone viral. "I'm really lucky to have such supportive parents, because I know a lot of other people aren't as lucky as me," Caden told Buzz Feed News. Caden's dad was not always supportive of the LGBTQ community, but that changed with his son. "That's when we really started embracing [the community], because we knew our son was gay, and at any time he could come out," Wyatt said, Buzz Feed News reports. "And he needed to see that we were going to be able to support him and be there for him." Wyatt adds, "There's a lot of Q flags in our neighborhood, a lot of Trump flags and Blue Lives Matter Flags, [but] you don't see any pride flags at all." That is until now. The Pentagon says it will maintain an existing policy that bars "unofficial flags" from being flown at U.S. military bases and will not make an exception for the rainbow-colored Pride flag that represents the LBGTQ community. June is Pride Month, and Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby told reporters during a briefing that Secretary of State Lloyd Austin "is proud to celebrate and honor the service commitment and sacrifice of our LGBTQ personnel in and out of uniform." "Knowing that the month of June was approaching, we wanted to do due diligence and take a look at the old policy and see if we felt it was still applicable," Kirby said. "After some careful consideration, the Department will maintain the existing policy from July of 2020 regarding the display or depiction of unofficial flags," he said. "So there won't be an exception made this month for the Pride flag." Kirby explained "this was really more about the potential for other challenges that could arise from that exception."
