The claw-foot bath next to an open fireplace at @thefarmerscottage is the height of luxury. But just a few years ago, this cottage had almost completely succumbed to the forces of nature. Current owner Abby McKibben says when she first inspected the place, “Grass was growing up through the floorboards and there were four possums living in the roof.” While anyone else might be tempted to let nature take its course, Abby and her husband Josh were taken by the views and, of course, that convict-built brick fireplace in the bathroom.
