When "Queer Eye" star Jonathan Van Ness came out as HIV-positive, Ness helped the public understand what it means to live with HIV today. In a special new documentary film produced by Vice TV, Ness will provide vocal support for a similar cause. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Van Ness is set to narrate "Vice Versa: The Neglected Pandemic, 40 Years of HIV & AIDS," which follows advocates and communities affected by HIV while scientists pursue a cure for the virus. The film will mark the 40th anniversary of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in America. "Premiering June 2, the two-hour doc will use personal accounts, insights from different communities, organizations and people from different races, genders and sexual orientations to showcase 'the frontlines of scientific advancements in the field and the reality of the experience,'" THR reports. "Exploring the truth behind the statistics, 'Vice Versa: The Neglected Pandemic, 40 Years of HIV & AIDS' will travel across the U.S. to meet those living with HIV/AIDS, such as 'Hamilton' star and activist Javier Muñoz, and the advocates fighting for better civil rights for the affected communities." P!nk is grappling with the fact that her 9-year-old daughter, Willow, with husband Carey Hart, is on the cusp of the tween years. "It's still the salad days, she's still my baby," said P!nk in an interview over Zoom. "But she's starting to ask me questions about deodorant and bras." As if on cue, a siren blares in the background. "And there's my ambulance," she deadpans. Willow Sage and son, Jameson Moon, are a huge creative inspiration for the singer, whose real name is Alecia Moore. Earlier this year she released a single called " Cover Me In Sunshine " featuring Willow's vocals, which P!nk says happened organically. "She was in the room when I was recording. She liked the song and was humming, and she has such a cute, pretty little voice. I was like, 'You want to sing on it?' She's like, 'Sure.'" In the new documentary "P!nk: All I Know So Far," debuting May 21 on Prime Video, viewers go back to 2019 for P!nk's "Beautiful Trauma" world tour with Hart, Willow and Jameson in tow. ![Brazilian police have taken three suspects into custody in connection with the grisly murder of a gay teacher who was shot twice and then left in a burning car, the Latin Times has learned. As per the report, "The charred remains of LGBTQ activist and professor Lindolfo Kosmaski, 25, was found with gunshot wounds along PR-151 road in São João do Triunfo in the southern state of Paraná on May 1." It's reported that Kosmaski had been bound with ropes and shot before he was left in the burning vehicle. Authorities have not yet established whether the gunshots killed the young LGBTQ activist and educator, or if he died in the fire. Days prior, Kosmaski had received death threats before he suddenly vanished from a bar. The Latin Times also noted his disappearance was so abrupt that, according to his cousin, Kosmaski "[left] his cell phone at the establishment." New research shows more than half of LGBTQ youth report having been bullied at school, with 58% of those who are bullied saying they don't bother to report to teachers because they often do nothing — even when they see it happening, Forbes has reported. This research was conducted by the International LGBTQI Youth and Student Organization along with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, with the results being published in a report titled "Don't Look Away: No Place for Exclusion of LGBTI Students." "Fifty-four percent of LGBTQI people have experienced bullying in school at least once based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or variations of sex characteristics, according to a survey of more than 17,000 children and young people aged 13 to 24," the IGLYO summarized, per the organization's website. "The survey also showed that 83% of students had at least sometimes heard negative comments towards LGBTQI students, and 67% had been the target of negative comments at least once." "Interventions by teachers and other school staff upon hearing negative remarks and bullying are vital to an inclusive education system," IGLYO noted, though Forbes summarized the report's findings with the observation that a third of those surveyed said they didn't bother reporting bullying "because school staff had not done anything about previous incidents. Disney+ is bringing back its hit animated series "The Proud Family" with some new queer characters. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, actors Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter are set to voice gay adoptive parents Barry Leibowitz-Jenkins and Randall Leibowitz-Jenkins, and their character animations have us excited about what modern issues the series could explore. "The characters are mixed-race adoptive parents to 14-year-old activist Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins, previously announced to be voiced by Keke Palmer," reports EW. "Also joining the revival is EJ Johnson (Rich Kids of Beverly Hills), who will voice Michael Collins, Penny's best guy friend who is a non-conforming trendsetter, serving fierce looks at school and on the basketball court. The character was voiced by Phil LaMarr in the original series." "The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder" will reportedly pick back up with main character Penny Proud (voiced by Kyla Pratt) as she navigates life with her zany family and friends. One of the early images in Barry Jenkins' sprawling, lyrical, beautiful, and haunting 10-episode limited series "The Underground Railroad" is our protagonist, Cora (Thuso Mdebu), falling away from the camera and into the ether in slow motion, her arms grasping at nothing. It immediately reminded me of The Sunken Place in Jordan Peele's 2017 social horror, movie "Get Out," and "The Underground Railroad" quickly establishes itself as something with just as much, if not more, terrifying caliber. Here, we're rooted in history and all its evils, and the result is something staggeringly impactful. In Chapter One, titled "Georgia," we're plunged into Hell. Never shying away from the dehumanizing nature of Black history in America, Jenkins creates indelible images in the series' first episode that linger throughout each remaining entry. Some of them chill you to the core, including a POV shot that has still not escaped me. Some of them are profoundly beautiful despite their inherent tragedy, including "moving portraits" that are interspersed throughout the series, highlighting the eyes, faces, and humanity of the series' cast, staring directly into the camera and demanding we pay attention, reflect, and understand. After nearly 30 years on the sex offender registry in Montana, Randall Menges is finally getting his justice. Menges was reportedly 18 years old when he landed on the list for having gay sex with two 16-year-olds. Although the act was of the age of consent and consensual for all parties involved, gay sex was illegal in the state at the time and Menges was convicted of "Crimes Against Nature," Vice reported. "Convicted for a 'Crime Against Nature,' Menges ended up serving seven years in prison," Vice reports. "And, thanks to a constellation of state laws, he's been required to register as a sex offender ever since, even though the Supreme Court overturned all state laws against homosexual sodomy in 2003." A judge ruled this week that Menges should be removed from the sex offender list and all records of him ever having to register be erased. "Having consensual intimate sexual contact with a person of the same-sex does not render someone a public safety threat to the community," U.S. District Judge Dana Christensen wrote in her decision. Menges had to sue to get himself off the registry. However, the state of Montana doesn't seem to want to let him go. Montana's attorney general is reportedly appealing the decision to prevent the ruling from being used to remove sodomy laws in Idaho, Mississippi and South Carolina. Equality advocates have taken note of the record-shattering number of anti-LGBTQ laws that have already been passed this year — and the situation is poised to worsen. The Human Rights Campaign issued a press release stating that the previous record — 15 anti-LGBTQ laws in 2015 — was surpassed as of May 7, "as the seventeenth anti-LGBTQ bill was enacted into law." "In addition, 11 anti-LGBTQ bills are on governors' desks ... and several more are continuing to move through state legislatures across the country." Reuters summarized the plethora of bills, reporting that "seven of the laws restrict trans children from competing in sports, while others ban medical care for trans youth and allow parents to opt their children out of LGBT+-related subjects in school." Additionally, according to the HRC, "More than 250 LGBT+ rights-related bills have been introduced by state legislatures this year." GOP lawmakers are passing the measures, most of which focus on transgender people, in spite of recent polls that show a majority of Americans disagree. One poll, conducted by PBS NewsHour, NPR, and Marist, found that "two-thirds of Americans are against laws that would limit transgender rights." With the return of "Pose" and the upcoming "Halston" biographical mini-series, Ryan Murphy has expanded the LGBTQ universe on television. He is also doing so with his police drama, "9-1-1: Lone Star," which airs on Fox on Monday. The show, a spin-off of 2018's "9-1-1," premiered last year and follows the fire, police, and ambulance departments of the fictional company 126, located in Austin, Texas. The show has been praised for its inclusiveness. "Not only does the show feature one of the first Black trans men in a regular role on network television, but its sensitivity to LGBT+ issues even emboldened one of the cast to come out as bisexual," wrote Pink News. That actor was Ronen Rubinstein, who plays out paramedic T.K. Strand on the show. He came out as bisexual in April in an interview with Variety, NBC News reported. "I fully identify as bisexual," Rubinstein said in an exclusive Zoom interview from his Los Angeles area home. "I literally just got goosebumps saying that. It feels so good to talk about it; it feels so good to finally be comfortable with it." One of the show's plots has T.K. involved in a romantic relationship with out police officer Carlos Reyes (played by Rafael Silva), which gives their portrayal a level of authenticity unusual for a mainstream cop show. They have become so popular that they've been given the affectionate moniker "Tarlos" on social media. On Monday's episode, the twelfth of the season. It has been just a month since Colton Underwood came out on "Good Morning America" to host Robin Roberts. Since then he announced a Netflix reality series about his coming out, as well as being slammed for his relationship with ex-Carrie Rudolph who took out a restraining order against him last year for stalking. But in an exclusive interview with Variety, Underwood did a deep-dive into the reasons for his coming out when he did, and the story is darker than initially thought. "The confession was prompted not by liberation but out of fear," Variety writes. "'I'll just say it,' Underwood reveals on a recent afternoon, still adjusting to his new life as an openly gay man. 'I, at one point, during my rock bottom and spiral, was getting blackmailed. Nobody knows I was blackmailed'." As he explained it, he was living in L.A. and visited a gay spa. Not long after, he received an anonymous call, which has been reviewed by Variety, claiming that someone took nude pics of him at the venue. "Underwood never saw the alleged photos and explains he was at the spa "just to look," saying he 'should have never been there.' The unidentified sender threatened to 'out' him in the press, and in a panic of paranoia, Underwood forwarded the email to his publicist, Alex Spieller, which forced him to finally have an honest conversation about his sexual orientation. On his "spiral" Underwood continued "It got so dark that he took pills one night last summer, hoping he'd never wake up. 'I tried to end my life, and it didn't work,' he tells Variety. In a case of politics and porn making strange bedfellows, tatted, ex-adult film star Philipp Tanzer wouldn't appear to be a logical choice for the ultra-conservative, anti-LGBTQ Scottish Family Party. Tanzer is better known as his adult film alter-ego, Logan McCree, "who made a number of gay porn flicks with Raging Stallion and other studios, and won awards while working in the adult industry, including a Grabby and a GayVN Award," EDGE previously reported. But he was the SFP's choice, ran, and lost this weekend in the Scottish election. He announced his candidacy this past April, Tanzer jumped into politics for a seat in the Scottish parliament as a candidate for the party. The German-born, former bodybuilder had moved to the small Scottish town of Durness in 2012, where he joined the local fire department in 2015 without anyone finding fault with his past in gay porn. Laverne Cox is set to take on the mantle of red carpet coverage for E!, inheriting the role from Giuliana Rancic, who held the gig for two decades before announcing her departure to focus on producing, Page Six has reported. "The network announced Monday that it was pulling in Cox, 48, as the host of its flagship red carpet show, 'Live from E!'" according to the outlet. Cox's new gig will commence "starting with the 2022 awards season," the Los Angeles Times reported. Cox issued a statement, expressing that she is "so excited and deeply humbled to be hosting E!'s iconic red carpet coverage," as per Entertainment Weekly.
