Tavern on Rush, one of the Gold Coastโs most iconic and packed restaurants, is closing after nearly 25 years. Fortunately, you have some time to make your last visit to the restaurantโs prime outdoor patio by Mariano Park, as it plans to stay open through New Yearโs Eve. Owner Phil Stefani said that the restaurant is still doing well, but its 25-year lease is ending and the landlord wants to do something else. โThey decided they no longer wanted to lease the space,โ he said. Last week, the steakhouse announced the closing on Facebook, thanking its customers for the long run. โWe owe our decades of success to our loyal customers and hardworking staff, many of whom have been with @tavernonrush since its inception in April of 1998,โ the post read. Stefani said the restaurantโs phone has been ringing constantly since the announcement was made. โEvery restaurant builds its own niche and history, and weโve been blessed,โ he said. โTwenty-five years is a long time for any restaurant.โ And heโs been humbled by the outpouring. โThatโs the thing about restaurants, itโs really the hospitality industry,โ Stefani said. โPeople have strong memories.
